Your browser shouldn't affect your torrenting abilities. Last time I checked, Vuze/Azureus was a popular Mac-compatible client. Download that, then try to download a popular, well-seeded torrent. It should complete without being connectible, but if it don't, try that link above. |

sent one to wimpy. freqy: waffles sucks. what has destroyed the competition. and it sounds like someone needs a little lesson in torrenting. so, a torrent download works as so: a torrent program receives instructions on HOW to download a file. using these instructions, it knows how to find other users with the same file, and can download the file from them. however, torrents do not download sequentially, nor do they download an entire file from one user (peer). instead, it grabs little pieces of the file from each user whenever it can and pieces them together that way. the idea is that for a file to become completely distributed everyone has to only upload one full copy, then those users upload their copies to more users, and it branches out exponentially. now, what you are getting from what (tehehehe) are torrent FILES. these are not the file itself - these are the instructions i talked about earlier. what you do is open the torrent file in your torrent client, and the client then downloads the correct file(s). if you are just beginning, i wouldn't recommend using azureus as was said above - it's got way more options than the average user needs, plus it's written in java so it can get pretty memory intensive at times. if you are running windows i would recommend (pronounced mu-torrent). on mac os is an excellent, lightweight torrent client. also, supposedly utorrent are coming out with a mac version, so keep your eyes open for that. |
