hiya, anyone help?

i have the exact same 2 copies of the same record, both
decks set at 0 pitch control, yet if i match the beats they
go out of sync with each other within a minute or so.

is this likely to be a motor issue, or could it be the
records?

Perhaps the problem is that you have a little bit too much
time on your hands.

you could always check if the big dots on the platters stays
"in place" if they dont it might be a motor or more
precisely pitch/quartz lock issue. if not maybe the records
are different (unlikely)

conclusion: dunno really, sorry

Sounds like the Motor but I'd check the arm weight and check
the slipmats too. Try switching the records on each deck
and see if the same record or deck slows down/speeds up.

case.

why would you need them to stay in sync for longer than a
minute anyway. If you were beat juggling or something, they
only need to stay synched for a few seconds right?

The motors are phase locked to the quartz crystal when the
light is on. If you're really anal, you could lock both
crystals together. temperature changes will affect the
crystal operating frequency and therefore the rotational
speed.
Maybe there is a temperature gradient between the two
decks.
Its probably more likely that there is a difference in
slipmats, needle friction, tone arm weight, etc. Maybe put a
marker on the platter and record and after a minute stop
them and see which platter has moved more relative to the
vinyl?

since the 1210 manual was within arms length (just) I dug it
out and it doesn't spec the absolute accuracy of the quartz
lock mode. I suspect they will differ slightly since it
isn't specified. If you've got a mk3 or mk5 you get dipless
pitch so can tweak them close to 0% and probably get them in
sync longer.
remember these are record players not scientific
instruments.

I wish I had that much free time. I should not be typing
this. I must get on with my work! argghhh

take only one of the records

play it for the full length of the record input/rec to PC
/cubase from deck A ( warm up the PC for half an hour
first)

then with the same record do the exact same ting using deck
B

now in cubase look at the wav's ...trim the ins and outs of
each

which is longer? deck A or B? if they are the same'ish
....do the same experiment with the other record(veyenil)
and then look at the wavs?

from this you will know which is screwy .

tip
dont touch the pc when your recording.
