haha what made you think i was kidding?

btw, his myspace is working again...it's really a
beautiful, cheerful album...so very refreshing in these
times when most of music people tend to be rather pathetic :

it sounded to mexican repetitive popular music to me, first
time i checked your link, with the shitty video and all...
:S

i like the more 'ambient' parts, the intros, mainly, when
there are noises and guitars and no voice...

any recommendations..i only know very small portion of it.

thing..

My friend's mum is Chilean and plays nice salsa kinda
orientated stuff a BIT like this. I heard this band off
a best of CD they had in the car and their early work is
lush salsa prog-rock stuff. Immense!

hey melack, how do you pronounce this guys name?

pablo diaz - reixa

is rexia pronounced like reya or recha?

calling melack : )

offline melack from barcielwave on 2008-03-24 17:33 [#02187916]
Points: 9099 Status: Regular

hehe nice one, cause i think it is a catalan name, as the
'ix' contraction is typical of my language and not of
spanish, and it means something

pronunciation:
in catalan : resha (sh like in shut)
in spanish theyd say: reicha or recha

oh, all my blabla is applied to 'reixa' not 'rexia'...
:)

offline melack from barcielwave on 2008-03-24 17:45 [#02187918]

its funny cause there exist in spanish the surname 'recha',
which i think is a rude translation of the catalan one
'reixa' (franco and his catalanophobia i guess...), and
which also confirms as that reixa must be pronounced recha
in spanish... but, well, you can always pronounce it in his
catalan correct way... but then youd have a mix language
name pablo diaz vs reixa... :S shit multiculturality sucks!

no, wait, multiculturality is a good thing, isnt it?

just a problem for those who arent directly involved...
youre in the eternal linguistic problem
of how to pronounce foreign names...
i think the most beautiful option would be to pronounce it
in your own slovenian accent, so there will finally be three
languages involved in one thing and its too late and i think
i must go to sleep...

hey, sorry, just reading this...

the guy is from canary islands if that makes
difference..it's quite disturbing to know how to pronounce
it because you have to know where their names originate
from...ahh ohh

haha just read everything...we don't use x in slovenian,
see..and usually we try to pronounce names correctly. sorry
for not coming on earlier but im in the middle of writing a
review on this and once i get going i better not stop hehe.

recha will do i guess. thank you for your time melack, and
have a nice sleep! : )

offline melack from barcielwave on 2008-03-24 17:58 [#02187924]
Points: 9099 Status: Regular

oh sorry, i was sure it was about to happens, your post
before my angry words...

well, theres almost no doubt it is a catalan surname,
but if the guys is fully spanish (and more if he lives in
canary islands) i guess he and his family would always have
pronounced it in the spanish form "recha", which would be,
in my opinion, the most correct form for you to pronounce,
like the man itself says it... but we cannot be fully sure
neither of this, so...

he moved to barcelona when he was 20...maybe his grand
father was catalan :D

well, recha will do i think, thanks again mister! :)
