Saturn's moon Titan has hundreds of times more liquid
hydrocarbons than all the known oil and natural gas reserves
on Earth, according to new data from the Cassini
spacecraft.

I thought hydrocarbons were created by living things. Does
this mean that there was some sort of life on Titan (plants,
algeas and half sealion/half giraffe creatures)

The majority of hydrocarbons found naturally occur in crude
oil, where decomposed organic matter provides an abundance
of carbon and hydrogen.

Titan used to be covered in plum trees and half sealion/half
giraffe creatures which from now on I will refer to as "aqua
giraffe lions"

Titan's air is predominantly made up of nitrogen with other
hydrocarbon elements which give Titan its orange hue. These
hydrocarbon rich elements are the building blocks for amino
acids necessary for the formation of life. Scientists
believe that Titan's environment may be similar to that of
the Earth's before life began putting oxygen into the
atmosphere.

So we just have to wait for the price of oil to reach
$10zillion a barrel and we will fit a really big pipe. We
will have to keep in mind the aqua giraffe lions habitat
though.

I'm assuming this is just one of those "what if"
scenarios... Or is there actually a team of people at NASA
trying to figure out how to do this? Wouldn't it just be
easier to find an alternate source of energy on earth than
going on 1.2billion km errands?

Another interesting fact: NASA are experimenting with
Methane fueled propultion systems. and methane is abundant
in the whole universe, which is good news for future space
travel
