New jack swing

This genre is stuck between a rock and a hard place (end
80'ies and start 90'ies) and is shamefully overlooked in my
book. Lots of 808 with swing (ofcourse) old school rapping,
and melodic choruses.
I've begun really digging into this genre, and so should
you!

Here are some classics to begin with:

Bobby Brown - Every little step

Keith Sweat - I want her

Boyz 2 men - Motown Philly

Good call, well underrated genre nowadays.

Teddy Riley is one of the great producers in any style, imo.

I completely agree. I was thinking about making a DJ set
with focus on lots of new jack swing and 80'ies funk (Cameo,
Roger & Zapp, Gap band, Marvin Gaye, Keith Sweat, Basic
Black etc. etc.)

Talking of Basic Black, this track has a fucking sweet
riff:

Nothin' but a party

Good call!!! I remember that one. It's funny how a lot of
those guys completely lost their dignity. I mean... Bobby
Brown and R. Kelly!!!

Yeah, upload a set!

I have a mate who has tons of 80s/early 90s funk and RnB
records. I keep begging him to do a set, but he can never be
arsed.

I might just do that :P

The problem is, it's really hard to dig up the good stuff.
It's impossible to find torrents with the more obscure
tracks, and it seems weird to buy an old record with a bad
master, because theres one track you like!

I recommend Make It Last Forever by Keith Sweat, self titled
by Guy/Teddy Riley, and Don't Be Cruel by Bobby Brown.
