After seeing her on the Grammys, I have a new found respect
for her. That's all.

feel the same.

and what I liked about her...

she is *seriously* talented and quite unique. there's no
doubt about it. and her lucidity (sobriety?) made it even
more apparent.

I'd seen live performances of Winehouse before and while she
has always had a great voice, the glassy-eyed lethargy made
for pretty mediocre performances. last night was a
different story. all of a sudden I'm rooting for her.

I think she is super talented and a real character. Don't
have much of that in the pop world these days.,

She's like Des'ree maxing out her Unwin's store card, and I
can't say I'm all that keen on that idea either.

at least she's not worried about being seen as an insane
junkie like most mediocre pop stars who wouldn't touch that
shit with a barge pole in fear of daddy disposable records

her big problem is she is unprofessional and stupid, but her
voice is really cool and I hate soul singer types. So that
says something to me. Um, Im not sure if she wrote her
music, but its really good songwriting as well

If you look back in history most of the great musicians
suffered (enjoyed) substance abuse. Its only now that famous
people have a camera up their ass 24 hours a day. Its
madness. Didn't Clapton have abuse problems for much of his
life and we only heard about it a few years ago? Amy's
problems are money making devices to sell pictures. The
media is out of control. Not that Im defending self
indulgent materialistic celebrities. Ok, maybe I am just
this once, but sometimes I think they enjoy it.

isn't it vaguely xltironic that her last name is Winehouse
and she's a junky and possible alcoholic?

saying she's a new Billie Holiday would be some pure
blasphemy, but compare her to what's going on in the pop
world these days....she's very very good and i'm glad she
got noticed by the grammy grannies

she's still fucking crap. what's good about her music? i
listened to the entirety of her new album and it's really,
really terrible compared to other rnb/soul music that's been
made, even recently. i really don't get the fetish around
her vocal either, as it's like lauryn hill with a cold and
tons of semen blocking her throat. oh well, she's even
popular with the indie kids so i guess she's got something
UNFATHOMABLE that i don't hear. i mostly understand why
people dig stuff, and i guess i do now too, but it
disappoints me more than before.
