I saw Plaid the other night when they were in town at the
Abbey Pub and I must say it was a damn fine show. They had
played earlier in the day in Millennium Park, but I had
decided to just make the trip for their evening show.

I don't know if any other members had made it or not, but
out of the 4 or 5 Plaid shows I had gone too, this was
probably my favorite. They mostly played new material, with
the exception of 1 or 2 songs, but all of the songs were
definitely on the dancey side. The sound system was great,
so it was an awesome compliment.

I don't have a track list, but the tracks I did recognize
were Rat's Step, Miamivice, new Balil remix, and Doe remix.
I don't know if it's a new song for release or just some
tinkering done live, but they used the main hook from that
last couple minutes of their remix of Grandmaster Flash's
Scorpio and made it into a whole new song, so that was a
blast to hear.

The biggest surprise was, that Plaid actually played a
straight-up hypnotic Trance-esque tune. It was great,
people on the floor were lovin it, and it just goes on to
show that Plaid can dabble in any genre of Electronic Music
and make a great song.

Going to have to miss the Autechre show with Graham Massey
since I decided to take the day off of work for Plaid
instead.

But yeah, great night, great turnout, and great sound
system.

Nope scratch that, the end of the 4th one is the beginning
of the 3rd link, my fault.

thanks for the impressions, and mild thanks, too, for
linking the videos although it's impossible to make stuff
out from them

The Doe remix has been released via download on Yimino's
label, but you can also listen to it on Plaid's
myspace page.

That Scorpio remix was on Parts in the Post. I was going to
go to the Millenium Park show, but found out about that
reservation business too late and had something to do that
night.
