I paid $75+ for it when it originally came out.....wait no I
didnt, did you get it through warpmart I assume, sounds
different how- cause its a cassette and not 110% mastered to
sound perfect in everyway, while tapes and vinyl have a
nostagia feel to them.

warpmart yes

i think maybe my cassette deck is possibly fucked.

Surripere sounds pitched down slightly

i dunno, i guess just tape compression and all that
bollocks

anyways, it's cool

yeah, it's the greeny colour thing, and then on the inside
is a load of what seems to be "piss-take" code

funny you mention this,
i actually prefer the Draft Cassette sound over the CD, but
i have since lost the mp3s of the early promo, and only have
the cd. Would yolu possibly mind ripping these tracks for
me? I simple side a side b would be fine. And the LP of
draft i personally find to be mastered badly. It doesnt have
as much compression and punch as the tape or the cd.

well i could record the tracks into my AW4416 and burn to
disc for you, but i've got no way to mp3 them - the computer
i'm on right now isn't mine. i'm only borrowing it while i
sell my extraneous computer accessories on eBay (thanks
Apple for making shit laptops)

also, i'm just gonna record it as one big 2 track on my
multitracker...i can't be arsed setting up new songs in the
Yamaha for each track, also i'm sure my pausing and playing
wouldn't be spot on - you can edit the audio as you see fit
when you get it....and anyways you should listen to the
album as a whole!

Wahey, we've got an AW4416 at school... one of the most
cumbersome things to work with imo.

i did college, and used a Yamaha 02R extensively, so the
AW4416 is second nature to me

in comparison to an analogue desk, it is slightly cumbersome
because of having to use the screen to do some things.

but in terms of a digital desk, i find it to do everything i
need (and more)

i just need to expand the inputs. it comes as standard with
8 analogue ins, and has 2 bays. i just bought one 8-in
expansion card. need to find another from somewhere

Yeah, I guess you just need the experience with using it.

the biggest hurdle with the AW4416 is that it's two things
in one - a digital mixing console, and a 16 multi-track hard
disk recorder.

the 02R is just a digital mixer, so when i got the AW4416
all i had to do was get to grips with the internal routing
to get signals to the hard disk inputs.

i would suggest trying to get your head around just the
mixer section first, before even jumping into it. you know,
just go at it in chunks.

anyways, what is a school doing with one? lol

hehe using it mainly to record tracks. We've got a small
recording studio inhabited by me and a few other guys, but
we don't use the Yammy anymore seeing as we finally got a
computer start of this school year.

if i were you, i would force yourself to get used to using
the Yamaha.

Computer based DAWs are great, don't get me wrong. they help
out a lot, and can really speed things up when you're on a
roll with making music.

but if you want a good, well rounded knowledge of recording
music, it would be worth the time getting to know how the
slightly more "old-school" way works.

when my ex was doing Music Technology in college (it was
only about 3 years after i did my Music Tech course, at a
different college), they wouldn't even teach the class how
to use a hardware sampler - the tutor said that they weren't
relevant anymore.

lol

i missed out on the ADAT sessions at my college (our course
started in September 2000, i joined the course in Feb 2001)
and i really wish i had've been there, because i don't know
shit about ADATs.

anyways, if you can get to grips with using the Yamaha, at
least force yourself to make one track on it. transpose your
knowledge of current systems into using something that is
only a few years old :p

haha yeah, we've recorded quite a lot with it, we used it
for at least a couple of years with real tracks, but now
it's only really used for live recording (which makes barely
any sense as it's pretty bulky). still, I'd like to learn
how to use all the FX and other production stuff that is
actually there on it.
