Ableton fucking Live 7

What is up with this piece of shit software?

I spend my money on a new Macbook and actually BUY Ableton
Live 7, like some kind of stupid tool pissshitter, only to
find that there's audio glitches and that it makes ugly
sounds when, wow, more than TWO loops are playing which have
a couple of effects/pitch shiftings/tempo changes going on.
At the beginning of each repeat of some loops, there is a
big, fat, annoying CLICK.

I never had this problem on my cracked version of Ableton
5.2 on my slow arse Viao PC. What a waste of money. That
ran/runs 230.6% better than this infected toenail muck.

And then there's Cakewalk Sonar 7, which works like a
mite-infested pair of raped tits in comparison with version
3.

Everything I've bought recently has ended up being WORSE
than its older brothers.

Stick to your old software if it's working for you, I guess,
is the "message". I hate it when you get this stuff in the
mail - and you're all excited - you rush to start it up,
smell the nice laptop box hmmmm. Load up the software, eyes
wide and hopeful like a sexed up dog bitch, only to find
that it FUCKING DOESN'T WORK.

whinge...

Yep, old movies, old videogames, old music, old software are
all better. Ooh, have you tried the new windows
vista?

I'm still grooving in win2k. It's common sense that just
because it has an higher version number it does not
necessarily mean that it's better than the previous
versions.

Why didn't you try the trial/demo versions before buying?

Well, I just fell in love with version 5 for live
performance and thought I might as well buy it for my faster
mac, so when I saw 7 was out I stupidly just... got it. Made
sense then. I should have probably read up on it, because
the ableton forums are teaming with people having problems
with 7.

Then again, it's been behaving itself better now - no more
clicks. Until the next patch, then...

yeah dont go berserk man, first of all its just software,
and its still in beta-fucking-testing, they dont even know
what they created man. The new slicing capabiliteis is
fucking crazy. it makes fruity loops and all the other crazy
shits obsolete, just wait and learn about ableton more
before you're unhappy that it doesnt work.

the thing i hate is the whole You CAN register two
computers, but you cant use them at the same time."
bullshit. I WANT TO SYNC TWO COMPUTERS TOGETHER

they make it impossible, killing all midi interface uses.
and the MIDI/Sync Preferences is just fucking not there at
all. it's just yellow lights and blinking colors, yay.

i think i want them to hire me.

i think it drived me to kill my MOTU fastlane thing, from
repeatedly connecting and disconnecting my USB wires.

Ableton looks like the program is controlling the music
rather than you controlling the music. I'm not an expert but
it seems like that a little. Ive never used it extensively
though.

I liked Ableton at first then discovered it is designed to
be really convenient and easy to do things that I don't want
to do.

It is like one of those plastic chairs that is molded in the
shape of someone else's ass.

As far as computer stuff goes I think renoise is the most
impressive program Ive come across.

yeah if someone's using ableton, and theyre letting it do
all the work plus laziness and no creativity, you can simply
say,

"That sounds really Ableton"

Live 7 is like Frankenstein's monster

offline CS2x from London (United Kingdom) on 2008-01-30 22:56 [#02169709]

Well, I never use it to compose actual tracks (although I'm
sure great things could be done with it), but live it is
wonderful because of the on-the-fly decisions that you can
make. Other sequencers don't offer that.

You're right, pulseclock, the new features are v. nice, but
it is more unstable than older versions.

Cakewalk Sonar, and sometimes Pro Tools in the final stages
of things.

I stuck with Live 5 for ages, illegally, and only just
bought Live 7. I love it... but it does need a bug fix.
Those CPU spikes are deadly and I almost couldn't save a set
thanks to demo mod on Operator.

It's not that practical at the mo, but it'll get better, we
just need to wait.

Yes, it's the CPU spikes that causing the annoying sound
artifacts. I'm not even pushing it as hard as I did 5, and I
was running 5 on a computer that's half the speed of the
Macbook.

But I am glad you love it, I feel I could love it one day
too. When it's patched up I will enjoy its sexy company.

are you using the asio drivers?

actually, are there even asio drivers for mac? i've never
actually run any music software on my macbook - i just boot
camp into windows xp to run ableton because the mac crack is
hellof unreliable.

offline hedphukkerr from mathbotton (United States) on 2008-01-31 01:42 [#02169765]
Points: 8833 Status: Regular

so yeah i just check and there certainly are mac asio
drivers, so double check youre using those (under
preferences > audio > audio device)

also, ableton fucking kicks asssss. it doesn't fit
fleetmouse's bum because mine slides in there so
comfortably.

Kinda worries me, that you say that. I was going to buy that
exact setup - MacBook and Ableton live 7.

I just really like the interface, and the sequencer does
what it needs to do for me.

Any idea when a new patch will arrive?

Hmm. You should look into it a little more - I'm sure its
fixable.

I'm using ableton 7/macbook combo and its really really
smooth. Completely bugless in fact, so far at least.

just wait until your MacBook overheats in about 6 months
time and breaks down due to a Logic Board Failure

I feel that Live is nice to "groove" in, but I don't like
making tracks in it. But it's great for jamming.

you don't need ASIO drivers in Mac OS X

Mac OS X has Core Audio

Mommy, Where Do Servers Come From? is pretty funny :D

I grabbed the demo disc with version 6 lite and 7. I thought
it was cool until I found out it's 400 bucks or so. That's
money I could be buying food and clothes with so that's not
the route I want to go :D

I did however get a free copy of 6 LE and my buddy and I
recorded one song with it. It's pretty good! I like the fact
that I'm using the LE/demo legit instead of uber high ticket
ableton or cracked ableton.

Sorry you spent so much on it !
