garbage?
smashing pumpkins?
green day?
metallica?I've tried some years ago to listen to some rock,
but I couldn't...never been a nirvana,pearl jam,u2
fan...probably of Queen but it was several years ago...the
only rock-group I respect are Radiohead,I really like Velvet
Underground, and Nick Drake...as for the rest...I've always
been an electronic-based fan...

I think it's all about how you were brought up.
When i was a kid, my sister and my brother made me listen to
their fav music: Depeche mode, Sex pistols, The cure, The
clash, early acid stuff, Howard jones, Front 242... and this
is the kind of stuff i'll never stop liking because it
brings up a lot of good memories. When i started buying my
own records, i had this music as a starting point, so if i
wasn't brought up with any early electronic music, it would
probably have taken me longer to get into
electronica/electro/techno/ambient etc..

I was definitely brought up on rock, I had my grunge, punk,
metal-head, art-rock, classic rock phases, and from there I
went on to electronic music.

i was pretty much rock until i heard come to daddy (which is
rock-ish).

ofcourse, rock is nearly dead these days. but find i don't
even appreciate the really good recent rock albums (eg
lateralus) as much as i used to. i guess i'm becoming more
and more idm oriented.

but then there's the pixies....

come to daddy can very likely convert metalheads to idm :)

There's some decent rock out there... Radiohead is still
holding the fort, although they're not so ''rock''
anymore... The Strokes are a decent band, though they're
overrated... they're not the saviours Rolling Stone seem to
think they are...

they say radiohead are going back to their guitars on their
next album, though.

Good! Radiohead led me to electronic music, but after
hearing Autechre and all the ''real'' electronic artists,
Radiohead's little dabbles in it aren't as impressive... but
their guitar based OK Computer stuff still blows me away...
I think this is good news!

they're going on tour thru europe this summer, playing some
new songs as well as regulars, so if you want to make a
journey to the old continent :)

I'd like Radiohead to continue with what they were doing...
IDM rock... if they continued, and got better at it, it
would be awesome...

I grew up on 80's, and early ninties rock that my bro used
to listen to... so that's why I love 80's music... I started
with rock music like Radiohead, and U2, then moved on to
classic progressive rock like Pink Floyd, Genesis, and even
Led Zepplin later on, and now I'm into Electronic music...
and I love World Music... I still like rock music, I love
all styles, except for Country... and I'm not a huge rap fan
either...

You like Phil Collins? I like Phil Collins to... don't have
any of his albums, but his stuff is some good pop music...
