evidence of possible bible evils

if christianity is largely 'made-up' and yet asserts that
lying is a sin punishable with eternal damnation;

with knowing this as a lie and still asserting that lies are
wrong, then surely its making is of a truly evil nature?

perhaps the lie is justifiable for the evils it seeks to
eradicate?

evidently mind, fighting fire with fire only ever made more
fire

maybe this is the intention?

more sin = more redemption = more followers = more money

opposite effect.

you said,

'jesus is love. the sooner you realise it, the better.'

presuming something so incredibly hastily.

i am aware of this. aware so completely that i often bring
it up (although when i say it, i replace the word jesus with
god).

in my thoughts, god is love, love is the governor. love is a
way of describing life. it's not the stereotype we see it
as. love to me is much like the kind of god from the old
testament, like some kind of untameable fire. completely mad
and unexplainable.

it's a way of understanding the world and since i have
realised that it has been better. the picture is a little
clearer

as for what i do 'for life', as for how i know it and see
it, i try as much as i can to make sense of it

a lot of the time i'm put off when people shut down

gives me a sense of total futility which i find quite
sickening

i was only kidding around because you said you hate to see
the words 'jesus' and 'love' in the same sentence.

it's tough to make sense of life. good luck with that. i
actually meant like what do you do? where do you see
yourself in the future kind of thing...

Well, one flaw in your argument is that I doubt a majority
of the people who are promoting christianity 'know' that it
is a lie.

You are all Antichrists!

Damn you all! Damn you to HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELL!

But seriously, I recommend you read 'The Antichrist' by
Nietzsche if you are interested in this type of shit.
Nietzsche explores the psychological nature of Christianity.
In the book, concepts of 'sin', 'guilt' and so-called
'compassion' are explored and deconstructed.

I doubt there were "original writers". The bible is a
collection of stories that were originally tales and myths
and legends and hearsay that probably date back to about 15
minutes after the first monkey learned how to talk. Its
been pieced together over the millinea, probably by folks
that believed that all of the myths pointed toward a larger
message, and were trying to formulate a consistent story out
of the little pieces.

You hear about these giant secret conferences that have
gotten together at various times to revise and rewrite the
bible... but I think even they probably believed it more or
less and were just attempting to clarify the message, or
whatever.

I mean, I'm sure there have been folks over the years who
have had influence on the contents of the bible that didn't
believe, but were using it merely as a tool for personal
gain. But, I think those were probably the minority... The
rest were delusional folks who tried to believe it. Probably
wanted to believe it. And maybe even did truly believe it.

But, I guarantee all of those, regardless of their level of
true belief, attempted to use it as a tool for personal gain
to one degree or another.

i'm studying anthropology and history. i'm not quite sure
how far i'll take it just yet. in order to become a fully
fledged anthropologist i'll need to get a phd, and i'm not
sure if i'm up for it. maybe i'll go on with history and
just become a teacher. i really want to travel some more, so
i may tie that in with teaching.

omfg.. okay, there are real problems in the world
that they mention in this article, like child abuse. but,
believing that you can cast some spells and drive ghosts out
of child molesters to solve the problem... holy fuck.

That is a prime example of why sitting passively by
while people believe obviously insane things is dangerous.
It should be pointed out that there is quite literally no
reason to believe that saying these prayers is going to cure
these people. And your child will not be more safe simply
because you believe in these fairy tales.

It is pretty much not okay to give this kind of ignorance a
free pass under the guise of religious tolerance. Surely
sane people can see that there's no basis for believing that
this stuff is actually real?.. or if there is a rational
basis, have them lay out their case.
