i hardly notice it other than when i'm in total silent
places, like sleeping at my parents house on the
countryside. standing on the terrace at night, having a
siggy and trying to hear the huge cascade two kilometers
away, that was when i first noticed it. i've had it for a
few months only, and i think it might be getting better now
since i've totally forgot about it the last week or so.
maybe it's gone. probably i should stop cleening my ears
with q-tips stuffing the fax further into the head..

Yes, definately stop doing that. When i went to see the
nurse to get my ears syringed she told me that putting olive
oil (not extra virgin) in my ears twice a week was the way
to go with ear care.

I am looking forward to Monday. When i will have both of my
ears done. I had to have only one done the other day because
i actually couldn't hear out of it.

I was at a party with them playing, but missed most of it as
I was in the other room. But yeah, they're decent.

really, olive oil, then? Sounds like you're pulling our
legs. :D Is it applied with an eye-dropper, or how do you
get the olive oil into the ear, and what is it supposed to
do once it's in there?

i went to a tinnitus conference (yes really) and one doctor
giving a talk there said using q-tips/cotton buds is among
the most pointless and dangerous things you can do to your
ears.

also, 'masking techniques' do not cure tinnitus but can make
it seem worse. and doctors have no idea at all what causes
it. this was from a talk by our region's leading hearing
specialist.

so yes, ear protection ftw! (wish someone had told me this 4
years ago!)
