The case for abortion. Or at least mass
sterilisation.

troubling.

night's sleep since i saw the film when it came out, ages
ago...i have recurring nightmares, i don't even bathe but
once a month, i loathe to leave my house for any
reason.....i feel dead inside, because of jesus camp.

I had to go to church until I was about 13
in sundayschool the children were carefully questioned and
brainwashed about religion and that their way is the only
way and without it you'd be miserable the rest of your life
and go to hell. I didn't really buy that so I rebelled
myself and tried to make fun of the whole situation so I was
expelled to the grown up church service....

Here I learned about how god will seperate the good
corn(people) from the bad and how he would thow the bad corn
in the fire on judgement day. But the road to jesus would be
like going through a sea of fire and glass. Also the main
bad guy wasn't satan anymore (he was defeated by jesus on
the cross) but Belial (he was pictured like a seven headed
hydra like demon) The preacher declared himself directly
appointed by god to tell us his messsages and the people
were urged to pay a certain percentage of their money to the
church (and of course Mr. "directly appointed by god").

There were also horrible songs that were supposed to be
happy but when I watched the people's faces, they weren't
happy at all. The only funny bit was when everyone started
to speak in tongues (like having the holy spirit in you...)

I was lucky that my parents finally saw that it was a bad
thing to be there so I didn't have the big arguement with my
parents about it. My brother who left earlier wasn't so
lucky.
I feel really sad for kids in a similar situation...

Saw it when it came out on dvd. I remember wanting to punch
the fat lady in the face a few times.

I have a couple of cousins that live in Baltimore that are
raised sort of like this, homeschooled and everything. When
they finally did go off to college, one of them got into
hard drugs (even heroin I'm told) and had to serve some
time, the other cousin also got into drugs and had some sort
of schizophrenic break down- got into physical fights with
his father, sawed his guitar in half-- and now dosent even
recognize my grandma when he sees her.

I bet there will be similar outcomes for many of the kids in
Jesus Camp.

Also there was a point in the doc where all the kids are
breaking cups that symbolize abortion or something... I just
want to point out that I really loved the music and
intensity of that scene, that specifically was some of the
best work I've ever seen in a documentary.

All of you know that Jesus is Lord and Savior. Accept him
into your hearts and embrace God once and for all. If you
think I am wrong, then the devil has deceived you. I love
and pray for every one of you.

I thought the music throughout was great--some of it
reminded me of Ae or BOC--I'd love to get my hands on the
soundtrack.

fuck.
its still on google videeo and i started watching it.
all this over the top religious stuff that goes on i find
silly, but to watch parents and people letting their kids
grow up this way is sickening :|
"i can go into a playground of kids, tha dont know anything
about christianity. leave them to the lord in a matter of no
time at all."
no shit. they're kids.

i live in the us, everynight i drive past a billboard on the
highway, it always shows some kind of jesus slogan. right
now it reads
"TEEN CHALLENGE!

KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS"

everytime i see it if fills me with rage, as if keeping
christ in christmas is the most important thing to think
about as a young person.

also, please boycott the film the compass as it promotes
atheism to kids. also mind you i live in a BLUE state!!!

Without a doubt we're in a time of consciousness raising
towards religion, and after seeing these documentaries and
speeches, reading all these books (namely god is not great
and the god delusion), I'm at a point where I'm just
exhausted.

I don't know where to direct my frustration towards anymore.
Most of the time I just see it as some silly thing that I'm
above with logical thinking, sometimes I dig deeper and am
truely worried about where all this is heading. Sometimes I
get enraged and feel hostile and violent towards religion,
for instance while watching this (and as wolfslice said) I'd
like to punch that fat lady in the face.

All in all this film just continues to affirm my thoughts on
the stupidity of religion.

just watched the whole thing this afternoon.

i think the biggest thing i felt uncomfortable with was the
use of guilt in controlling young and adult minds.

how can love be true when one feels the need to control
another? the sincerity of that love is further undermined by
the use of fear to achieve that control.

All you ever see is the bad stuff though...

Don't you guys think it is good when there is organized
missions to provide relief to Katrina victims, feed hungry
children in third world countries, homeless shelters,
programs to get people off drugs and off the streets. etc.

I mean, yea there are bad apples, or at least misguided
apples in the bunch, but I don't think that being religious
and being organized is a bad thing all the time. There is a
lot of "good will" these organizations provide especially
around this time of year.

yes but for the most part it is religion who we can hold
responsible for the problems which they so admirably seek to
'sort out'

I was impressed by some of the children's spiritual level
and intelligence. All in all it was a really good
documentary showing how even today kids can grow up with
real values. Too bad they thought them to be fundamentalists
accepting no other religion but theirs. Otherwise I would
like to praise their effort.
