I just went to church

Jesus Christ! How fucking depressing! I cannot begin to
explain how terribly saddening the whole ordeal was. The
congregation is tiny, there were maybe about twenty people
there and 99% of them were over the age of 90. The seating
was sponsored by some demented torture enthusiast and I was
shocked to hear the reverend implicitly diss Jewish people
by mentioning something of John the Baptist trying to save
them from their "cocoon of privilege". Everytime he said
Amen I thought the world was going to end (he sounded like
Darth Sidious). He tries to seem very pious but that just
makes him all the more senile looking. His rapid eye
movement further emphasise his senility. It was hell having
to shake his hand.

What saddens me the most is to think that my dear 27 year
old sister is involved with these geriatric sad cases.

So, are you actually from Scotland, or just visiting?

This time of year, my church is filled with people that
don't usually go, including me. Can't find a seat. I don't
think it's too bad or anything.

I guess I'm overly sensitive to the whole thing. I had this
overwhelming sense of futility throughout the whole service.
If the world had to end right there, would all this matter?
I'm not really one for living life to the fullest, I like
things simple, but to me it seemed that there had to be
something more to the celebration of life than that. Not to
mention I disagree with just about everything being said.
Who's to say I'm not worthy? I'm worthy of just about
anything as much as the next guy, including the Jews.

Okay, I hate to put words into people's mouths. The reverend
did not say that Jews aren't worthy. He had this air about
him that "we" are better off that irked me.

The One-God religions often have a superiority complex...
the CHOSEN ones.

Don't be to hard on the man. It's actually Jewish doctrine
that they are chosen people, he probably just has God-envy.
;)

I'm religious, but I've never found a church I've been 100%
(or even remotely close) to being happy with. On one end of
the structure, dour, humourless and boring; on the other,
'In your face' zeal and hypocrisy. You also get a healthy
dose of politics and power struggles at both sorts too. I
don't go any more, apart from at Christmas and I must admit,
I'd probably still go for the atmosphere/tradition, even if
I was an atheist. Bit of a shame as there have been times
when I have really enjoyed church and even had a couple of
"religious experiences" in various ones.

the only reason for me to go into a church this year is to
enjoy a classical concert with works from mozart,
rachmaninov and schubert.

thanks christians for building something with nice
accoustics. God would be proud, had he existed.

I like churches, they are pretty cool. It depends where you
go and who's telling you the shit I guess. I'll go for mass
once in a blue moon, but it's not to free god but to
participate in the act of communal thought. Not sheep like
but everyone at the same time doing there thing... it's like
a BBQ or something.

It's pretty cool. Then again we got some awesome churches in
like Castlevania.
