I just have too much dopamine. I coloricized it, which means
it is no longer transparent, which means I can now put
something in the background as well.

do you draw them or do you somehow generate them with a
program?

Unfortunately I drew all 240 frames (of a 10x10 area while
the entire avatar is 60x80). These 120 frames are tricked
into only being 20 frames though, because the 'marching'
motion causes previous marchers to be replaced by another
that ends up in the same position (like how an animated
corkscrew only needs frames for 1 rotation but looks like it
keeps turning).

I definately want to use a program (actionscript probably
when I get around to it because its compatible with the
internets which is good because that's where goatse man
lives). I could also just feed these frames I already have
into a program and have much more control over them.

i see what u did there, nice, it looks like u've used flash
and lots of tweening to make this, am impressed that that's
not the case

Tweening would be the smart way, but as far as I can tell
there are shortcomings in their normal flash tween (without
actionscript):
1) Certain tweens are extremely determined to rotate (only
lower left corners of stuff if I remember) when you don't
want them to, which might be a bug.
2) Its a huge pain to deal with flashes layers and frames as
far as copying and pasting/moving/editing parts.
3) The stupid save as gif seems to put a black border around
everything.
4) when you're dealing with small pixel size stuff, you have
to worry about flash's non-pixel (vector graphics)
conversion messing stuff up.

Heh, just tried making a little animation on Cosmigo Pro
Motion, it's pretty easy, you even have a brush palette
where you can save your animation tweeners.

I made a pulsating square.

http://www.vulomedia.com/images/73674square.gif

It plays pretty slow on web browsers though.

Does that let you tween/interpolate frames (like you only
draw the first and last frame and it draws the rest of the
frames for you)? I'm mostly gonna be using actionscript
pretty soon anyway probably. I havn't been making much
animation (or music) simply from the realization that
programming is superior/less tedious so I should concentrate
on that.

I checked and it doesn't at least the version I'm using
4.7.

As for Flash, I can't believe John K.'s studio did Liquor
George on that thing, I tried doing some simple inking
animation but I couldn't get past the coloring system of
Flash.

Yeah, so far I don't really like creating in vector graphics
but I havn't messed with them enough to tell. It seems you
have to compose with simple shapes mostly but the whole
point is that it is small in file size due to using math
equations for shapes instead of memorizing pixel locations.

I can't tell if I like the color version or the black&white
version better... any chance you could make a pulsating
rainbow version for the sake of trippy graphics?

still great tho

Do you have a zip file containing all of your works dating
back to the beginning of the w M w era? That would be
terrific.

This mostly looks like a mess but is kinda interesting.
Might be better if foreground was white and if background
went half speed. I don't really have them organized in a
file anywhere but here is the other main one
(which I like better since its more playful/less rigid). And
here's one.
