am i the only one who has tried to utilize the tracker here
only to find most torrents are dismally seeded?

i think itd be great to more fully implement the tracker
into the rest of the message board, like have user's ratios
displayed, torrents seeded etc. obviously xlt is not about
to start competing on the music "backup" end of filesharing,
but if we could make this a real hub for live shows and the
like it'd be a great addition to the community i think.

case in point: i downloaded the aphex twin live comp pack (a
3 gig rar file) and am seeding at at least 20 kbps near
constantly, have a 2.4 ratio on it and still im the only one
who ive ever seen seeding it.

also, we could allow users to upload their own torrents,
sharing our own music so that when people link to spam its
not through megaupload or rapidshare and thus expires in a
week or two.

bittorrent is an amazing p2p protocol and should really be
used for most if not all large data transfer over the net,
not just illegal sharing.

xltv2.0 maybe? and what are your opinions?

i don't think we need to go as far as to incorporate seed
rations to the messageboard in any streamlined fashion,
that'd be going too far into the direction of this being
another tracker and whatnot... i think it works best if the
material that is uploaded is relatively controlled (and I
agree seeding should work better) so that there's no
possible legal hassle or anything. after all, the tracker
should serve the community, not the other way around.

discussion.

*bump* Every little bit helps, but the two of us isn't much
better than you by yourself. Thus, I'd be willing to start
seeding the Zilty torrents if other people showed interest
as well.

You guys should know that the statistics aren't accurate at
all. I seed a few torrents and all of them have much more
peers than the tracker displays.

Not all torrents are seeded for 24/7, once you start dling a
torrents wait for a couple of hours.

Hi,

I've just logged on again after being away for a year or so
(yeah, Hi) and noticed the shiney torrents... great idea I
thought...

Just tried to grab a few nice looking bits and none of them
have ANY seeds... even left the torrents running over
night, and its still only even started one of them and
that's running like a dog, with NO SEEDS and loads of
peers.

Anyone got some good storage they can at least put up one
seed of each file?

To seed the rar, you need to have the rar on disk, as well
as the mp3s themselves, which is a bit of a pain. It's the
same with some of the other things, which are zipped (the ae
marathon too IIRC).
My main computer is a laptop with 120GB drive. To seed the
torrents would use a considerable chunk of the disk space.
So ideally the torrents should have been on uncompressed
files for me personally.

The best way to get seeds is to start a topic for the
torrent you want. Requesting them all at once is probably
not a good idea.

Nah, the best way is to have them stored locally and
available all the time (this is how torrents work best)

My desktop here has about 750Gb of disk space, which is not
uncommon, but it would be nice if someone (xlt?) could make
sure there is at least one seed of all the files...

I turn my torrent app off whenever I need to surf or play
online games, cos it kills my bandwidth, but I leave it on
overnight usually.

Some peeps on here used to share files on their own servers
(not torrented) so I'm sure there would be someone willing
to make them available.
