what's happy about this occasion? :/

I'd rather remember him on a day he accomplished something
great while alive than the day he was killed. I bow my head
in respect nonetheless.

this day is for Yoko Ono to tell us that if John was alive
he'd be doing hip hop.

Why would he be doing hip-hop? It was over half a decade old
by the time he died, and he had a keen contemporaneous eye:
I'm sure if he'd wanted to infuse hip-hop into his music, he
would have. But, not surprisingly, he didn't.

He probably would have dried up creatively like so many
artists do as they age.

Well, maybe the ones who were never particularly creative to
begin with. I can think of many composers who didn't dry up
as they aged, not to mention a few more modern musicians.
