double albums are the name of the game these days... i was just listening to a Karl Hyde interview from 2004 where has was basically saying that, facing the onslaught of P2P, labels and artists need to be able to provide good value for money so that people will continue buying music in this day and age... their latest album, too, was a double-feature (in special edition) although not a very impressive one. then there's radiohead and basically everybody else... dvd+cd releases are everyday... (oh, when are we going to get another dvd release after gantz graf??) Anyway, i've bought mainly 2-in-1 cds lately myself... fools me into thinking i'm getting more for my money... usually the extras are not too amazing, but sometimes the loot is good. Whether it's a b-side of sorts, full of live or rare material, or an equal-sided 2-CD feature release, i think it's a good move. although i know about 7½ people who would buy an autechre release even if it had only one track on it, called "fuck you worthless consumer cunt" with a big sticker of someone's arse cavity - no wait that sounds like venetian snares |

I dont disagree with that, but it's not going to happen with Quaristice. Any double album would serve the same purpose as Drukqs - more new and great shit, not "goodies" to convince people to buy. |

why do so many folk want an official live album? there's a zillion live sets on the net that are perfectly good to listen to?. . . i've no doubt by February the board will disintegrate till everyone is anticipating a 4 DVD multipack, complete with real time generative alex rutterford video's for each song .. at the same time i'm bracing myself for the endless threads of people linking reversed versions of whigfield b-sides and claiming they have the first leak. . . |
