tooth drumming

offline retape from http://retape.net (Norway) on 2007-11-30 15:18 [#02149052]

I have a habit of playing drums with my teeth. the pros are
that I am the only one who can hear it so I can walk around
making mad fat IDm beatz without anyone hearing it.

the cons is that I'm supergood at this and I can't show it
off! I can do all the afx and [] beats with my teeth, and
rolls can be hard as hell.
to this day I know 1 other person who do this.

any tooth drummers here?

This is one of those things I've done all my, well, at least
since my early youth, and never shared with anyone. So, yes,
I tooth drum. Right now I'm tooth drumming Tundra. Including
high pass filtering the snare drum. I can also do an amazing
square wave including 24 db filter with my mouth.

i have no idea how you do this. do you use your fingers,
your tongue or your teeth alone? post a vid, please.

Toothpicks and a rubber-band when you need to do a
snare-rush or drum-roll.

special training required.

glad someone noticed the reference

:p

but i still believe the most IDM director is David Lynch

at least attitudinally

but yeah, Pi is awesome. Oldboy only just beats it to the
top spot on my list of best ever films

Pi starts off okay then turns totally cack, a trend continue
in Requiem For A Dream.

Pi was shite...and other than Ellen Burstyn's performance
and a surprisingly good turn by Marlon Waynes, Requiem was
even worse.

if we all had the same views, who would could you
pontificate to?

yeah, your AV is taking me back to old times ecnadniarb

why did you dump me for that small, but big breasted
midget?

yeah. generally it goes like this->>>
left side = bass drum, middle = snares.
hi hats to the right.. though theres no rule or anything,
its normally all over the place

offline retape from http://retape.net (Norway) on 2007-12-01 08:53 [#02149298]
Points: 2355 Status: Lurker

left side: bass drum
middle/whole mouth: snare
right side: toms/another snare
sliding the teeth from right to left (or vice versa) fast:
drum rolls etc.

I also play melodies like this and add my breath, weird
mouth noises and stuff like that. can't post a video because
you can't see me doing it.

offline portal13 from United Kingdom on 2007-12-01 09:55 [#02149318]

holy shit this is crazy. I though i was the only one. I bet
we're very much alike you and I .ha ha. I tooth drum to
melodies and tracks i make up just doing normal
things...then put them into proper tracks later. it started
off without me realising it for a bit.

Yea, left side is kick and right is snare. for hi hats i
alternate between teeth. and when a kick or snare comes
along, it's accented.

we should date

Like bogala, I've been tooth drumming for as long as I can
remember, and have never shared it with anyone. I often do
it while listening to a beat I'm familiar with and don't
even noticing I'm doing it. We should make the next XLT
vibes (hah, yeah right) a tooth drumming collaboration.

the other way round in my case, right side is for kick and
left side is for snare

now toothdrumming: The Young Gods - intro to "i'm the drug"

good idea for xlt vibes btw

wouldn't you just have to stick contact mics on your
mouth/face in the right places? i'm sure you'd at least get
something rhythmic out of them

i too am a toothdrummer and a slightly obsessive
fingertapper, it's annoying
