Stealing Wifi

I was reading an article and this guy parked his truck
outside of a coffee shop that had free wi fi. He was using
it without buying a coffee, and he got arrested for "Theft
of service".

I think this is the most retarded thing ever. That's like
getting arrested for being in love or being under the same
lamp as another person. People are fucking stupid.

Well it's just charging for the signal. I don't like shit
like that, one step closer to charging for air to breathe.

I think if you can't secure your wifi, you shouldn't call
the cops to arrest the person. That's silly.

If someone broke into my apartment, plugged a lan line
directly into my router without permission, and then dragged
the chord downstairs, I would see the violations.

But to milk free internet from a place that has an
unprotected signal is barely a credible legal argument in my
opinion.

If someone is using your connection for something that will
defame you or harm you in someway, I would get someone to
give them the boot, but if the guy is checking hotmail or
something... come on.

My POV entirely. I can also understand if you are using
someone else's connection all the time and on P2P and DLing
so much that they go over their bandwidth limit and incur
charges. I doubt this bloke was using his van parked there
as his 'regular' internet connection.

in that case people who don't order anything and just sit
there with their friends should be arrested as well.

Indeed. And what about the guy who hangs around for 1 hour
after he has finished his coffee?

*barf*

yea thats pretty stupid, i wonder how'd they treat someone
who has an iphone/ipod touch standing outside their
establishment, oh wait they'd probably be drinking the $9
cup of coffee.
