Electronic artists doing cover versions

Hello. I'm covering authenticity and the cover version in
my studies at the moment and would like you to make my life
easier by telling me interesting cover versions of songs
that have occurred, preferably by electronic artists. You'll
receive much thanks.

Covers are for losers, what about THE IDM!?!? Write a paper
about IDM, please.

Unfortunately I don't get to choose what I write about at
the moment.

the moog cookbook are a notable cover band. one of the
members is from air (im not sure who the other guy is) and
they do covers of 70-90's rock songs almost entirely played
on moog synthesizers.

I bet you wouldn't write about IDM anyway. You're deserting
IDM, aren't you? Leaving us behind, to fend for ourselves?
We don't need you anymore, we can distribute all the IDM
that's left just fine without you. In fact, there'll be more
for everyone now that mr. Hogging-all-IDM-then-leaving is
gone.

At least show some respect, punk.

To be a bit kinder, though.. What qualifies as an
'electronic artist'? If you're talking about the more
techno/braindance guys, there aren't really a lot of covers
around, I think. The Joy Division one by Squarepusher sticks
out as about the only one I can think of in that field,
really.

Not only will I abandon IDM to fit in with all my
incredibly-tightly-trousered-massive-fringed fellow
students, I'll not shut the door on the way out, leaving a
draft.

I don't have to choose an electronic artist, and the
Squarepusher one did cross my mind, but I was looking for
something drastically different to the original and hoped
that maybe, just maybe, Cylob had covered Bridge Over
Troubled Water and I didn't know about it. I kind of dropped
myself in it as I did volunteer to bring an example in
thinking 'this'll be a piece of piss', completely forgetting
that I generally detest cover versions.

You should bring in Rapeman's cover of ZZ Top's 'Just Got
Paid', it's fucking awesome! Or Big Black's cover of
Kraftwerk's 'The Model'! That would be like ... the opposite
of what you wanted, kind of. In a way. Yes.

The ginger's cover of Popcorn.
Cylob did the drunken sailor track...a classic sea shanty.

smiths - there is a light that never goes out). lali puna

think

That schneider tm remix is fantastic.

Anyway, I recommend you get the Tom Middleton presents:
Crazy Covers Vol 1 album - it has what you need.

I did a load of acid versions of nursery rhymes, which I
never really finished, but which I intend to complete I have
my x0x box built. I don't suppose that counts though.

You could use []V/vm's version of Whole Again (original by atomic kitten), I
think this is actually a cover with him singing, rather than
a cut up and fucked about with remix.

Wendy Carlos and her synthesiser transcriptions for A
CLOCKWORK ORANGE? I'm not sure if they could be considered
true "cover" songs; mention them anyway.

agreed, the moog cookbook

There was another band like this ... hmmm ... mike flowers
did some pretty fun covers too.

also, tv on the radio's cover of mr. grieves (originally by
the pixies) is really excellent.

and if you really wanna go off the deep end, try the album
director's cut by fantomas. its a spastic reworking of
famous (and not-so-famous) film themes in the way only mike
patton could.

I was looking up, in the interests of your research, cover
versions of "Warm Leatherette" by The Normal, most famoulsy
covered, I suppose, by Grace Jones. But I didn't know
whether to laugh or cry at this version by Trent Reznor
and Pete Murphy, who I do actually normally like, but on
this occassion his affected impression of Count Dracula as
played by David Bowie is more than faintly ridiculous.

Fennesz did these "covers" and i use that word loosely of
Paint it Black by the rolling stones and dont talk (put your
head on my shoulder) by the beach boyz on the Plays 10"
vinyl. if someone ahead of me already mentioned this i am
truly sorry.

Billy Corgan did "to love somebody" by the Beegees, and it
was the best track on his solo album (wich was electronic).
