I hate to admit this, but the first electronic album I bought was Prodigy's cd... uhm, can't think of the title, but it has "Firestarter", "Breathe", "Smack my bitch up" etc etc on it. After discovering AFX and many others, I quickly realized just how horrible Prodigy is. Yikes.

Whichever came first, Gary Numan's Pleasure Principle or Human League's Dare. Late 70s, early 80s. Do those count? First IDM probably was Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld.

I would say the first electronic album I got was Heaven and Hell (1974) by Vangelis. The first electronic record I bought was Blinkar Blå by Adolphson & Falk 1982. If we consider more modern music it would perhaps be Incunabula by Ae or Cascade by FSOL in 1993. I remember I really enjoyed electronic music already as a little child, Popcorn being the cheesy one... It reminded me of space and exploration of the unknown. That´s what electronic music is about for me. Hearing the unknown and exploring new worlds. Unfortunately it seems very difficult to find something new these days. All sounds, rythms, textures and songs have been played before. Damn. I´m getting to old. I wish I could hear music for the first time again. Keep rockin´ :-)
