Will Iraq nuke us all?

The fact is, that in this age of the computer and global
communication and awareness, we - the informed masses - NEED
to see evidence of wrong doing by a state (we see enough of
it when it is our own governments that are fucking up), and
evidence that our intervention will be beneficial to the
region we are attempting to 'help'. BEFORE we can possibly
agree to invade another country.

I think the majority of people would welcome the chance to
look over the 'evidence' that GWB and TB claim to have....
and IF it is as compelling as is claimed I would be willing
to support action against Iraq (or any state that was
threatening the freedom of others). But that is a big IF.

Until that time comes (and I'm sure it won't) I will never
condone the use of force anywhere.

+How can you compare an ancient nation like France and its
centuries of politcal change, cultural creation and historic

movement to the little insignificant fate of a distant land

called New Zealand?+

Cultural Superiority now..hunh..you are exhibiting all the
alarming hallmarks of a sterotypical caricature Frenchmen
that I do know and hope dont exist...

and btw your French culture is Naive and Immature compared
to the culture that you are so willing to trample..in
IRAQ..get real..Babylonians ring a bell????

No i saw lord of the rings and loved it! I'm sure NZ has
much to offer but lets not go comparing it with the dominant
nations...

LOL! It may not be superior but it certainly is VAST! I'm
talking about size here boyo, and impact: France has had a
greater impact (bad or good) upon the evolution of humanity
than NZ has!

When the words "Nazi" and "Fascist" appear in a debate
everything crashes, why? Because these terms reduce the
phenomenae in question to erronous stereotypes and mislead
people into making comparisons.

You really are a joke flea! As if modern Iraq has anything
to do with Babylon or even value its ancient history (im
talking about the regime here not the population).
And where do you get the idea that i hate iraq from?
A think you are slightly confused...

Well to ask the question, 'will Iraq nuke us all' leads us
to believe that you think they could or would want to. The
evidence clearly contradicts such a view.

"you are exhibiting all the alarming hallmarks of a

That's so sad. and let's not start comparing cultures please
it's entirely pointless.

The NZ culture has the Maori and Myriads of surrounding
Polynisian cultures to offer...(yes all those little Islands
that are no more than a Nuclear testing/Dumping Ground to
you)...the beauty, subtelty and the magificance of those
cultures far surpasses anything your Eurocentric heritage
has to offer...you can keep your Lourves..and all of the
Snotty Hoity Toity bollocks..as long as I can go and Enjoy
the Pasifika Cultural Festival annually.....It's nothing
short of absolute and pure magic..the music..the art..the
food....you can keep all of yours..

and btw..Our Wines regularly kicks the arses of yours all
over the Europe and the world...

I do belive that saddam would react to a full scale invasion
by using nuclear weapons. In peace time he is not a threat.
However the questions remains: does he have nukes? Probably
not...

Well then the question should be about the US/UK attack on
Iraq; their motives, the repurcussions and what we can do to
stop it.

go nowhere.

I think i have to agree with Tony here, this is too sad for
words. What you describe is probably very nice... I could
come up with thousands of similar jewels of French culture
but this would just lead us into moronic listing. I wish to
visit NZ one day to appreciate all this, but i do think you
should revise you history on the impact/influence of the
French civilisation on the world in order to escape the
disdainful stereotyped view you have of this country.

You Idiot..before the wars..the Baylonianruins and sites
were lovingly kept and were a huge tourist attraction...Iraq
was full of scholars who specialized in the baylonian arts,
literature, music, etc....you might deem any muslim state
barbaric..but Iraq was actually a secular state with a
higher rate of Education (98%) then most of the developed
countries..

I know little of the Babylonian heritage is left now thanks
to the carpet bombings and such....but i am hoping some/most
of the scholars still surivived to pass thewir wisdom on...

because western countries armed it dirung the '80s. What

You clearly haven't got my point: the ancient babylonian
culture/religion has no influence whatsoever on the REGIME
of saddam hussain who just happens to be governing the
country.

You are right about education...

Now you wish only to attack me on my person and not on my
views.

well I am not a western and all the western culture means to
me is imperialism and colonialism..I am indebted to nothing
you are offering here..even though i try and enjoy as much
of the culture you have to offer..but sadly its always
tinged with sadness..with tales of exploitation of
indigenous nations are always around the corner....The
literature full of heroic triumphs over the
savages..lovingly rendered depictions of the same etc...The
French arts and liteature are so full of your colonial
exploits that I keep having to stop and pass on the
"maginficance" of it all..

aphextwin (UK) board using a pc (UK, Alan Turing who was
influenced by Blaise Pascal (FR)) and probably a browser
(US) surfing the internet (US). All this seems very western
to me! And maybe modern NZ isn't a nation influenced by
western culture!? You are members of the Un aren't you?
You're capital is Wellington (very unwestern name)!?
Blah Blah Blah, it all goes to say that it is hard to find a
place in the world untouched by western culture...

98% Adult literacy

Maybe you don't subsribe to the idea of human rights,
concept created by the French during the 18th century
enlightenment...?

Well you can't have read much French litt if all you get is
tales of exploitation and sadness?! How does Bertrand fit in
to this or Rousseau, or Pascal, or Descartes...?

Is it possible that the only reason the US are trying to
start a war is because they 'elected' a president that is
incapable of doing his job, and the easiest way to make him
look good to his people is to fight a war that he is
guaranteed to win (militarily speaking)?

was going through the dark ages..and plagues...and
suffocating Christian mores...we had hospitals,
laboaratories, libraries, universities, math, optics,
surgery.....all you see today..is the legacy of what little
you manage to steal from us..the rest was burnt down by the
Crusading heros..Imagine where the world will be now..if all
of that wasnt lost....

Science product of the west..feh..dont make me laugh...your

Hmm, this sounds more like the rantings of an eastern
gentleman... If you are of arabic blood/culture why not say
so? Why hide it? I agree that the early muslim civilisation
was WAY in advance of the "west"... But times have changed
and one only has to be blessed with common sense to see that
now the west is dominant in things GOOD AND BAD. Anyway, why
make cultural distinctions by even using the terms "west"
and "east"? We are all human and share cultural/scientific
knowledge/experience!
