but of course.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-05 06:13 [#00066336]

damn, I need more Autechre...

Quoth from Lincoln on 2002-01-05 07:44 [#00066363]

most definitely The Mr. Funkmaster

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-05 15:44 [#00066429]

yeah, that's right, MR. Funkmaster... when you're this big
they call you mr. bitches!!!! :)

Caserol Joe the Chubby from mpls on 2002-01-05 17:35 [#00066432]

Tri Repetae is a must have for all who are remotely
inerested in electronic music. A lot of Ae fans say it's
not that great because it's more reptative than later
releases, but that's arse. I'm a fan of Confield and I
think TriRep is as good as any of therre releases.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-05 17:48 [#00066439]

I really like Amber... I'm thinking I'll get Amber and Tri
Repetae++ next...

Caserol Joe the Chubby from mpls on 2002-01-05 17:52 [#00066443]

i just got done listening to amber. get it.

Quoth from Lincoln on 2002-01-05 18:05 [#00066446]

most definitely Mr. Caserole

Gonzola from stockholm on 2002-01-05 18:11 [#00066448]

where i live there's no second disc, i think it can be
bought seperately as an ep though...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-05 18:15 [#00066450]

I really like Autechre a lot... what I've heard anyways... I
used to think it sounded sterile, but it doesn't... Chiastic
Slide is amazing, and amber is great... and what I've heard
from Tri Repetae and LP5 is great as well... I'm definately
getting some more, soon...

Quoth from Lincoln on 2002-01-05 19:13 [#00066464]

funk:

what do you enjoy the most? the complicated sounds that you
can't decipher? or the eeriness?

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-05 20:02 [#00066491]

well it's different for each album... on Incunabula it's the
melodies I like obviously... also on Amber it's the melodies
as well, but they build more slowly, and are more
effective... it's very sad one minute, and very upbeat and
happy the next (slip)... on Chiastic Slide it's again the
melodies which do sound very sad and desolate, and are more
subtle (very subtle in Tewe), but also the percussion, which
adds to the mood, and makes the album not so much errie to
me, but very desolate, and strangely enough given the amount
of sound used, very lonely... it's very meloncholic, and I
love it... On Chiastic Slide the music definately doesn't
sound sterile and mechanical... sure, it sounds more
"electronic" then Boards of Canada, and even Aphex Twin...
but when I listen to a song like Tewe, it sounds like the
machine is alive, and is trying to communicate something...
Cipater is the same way... I guess Autechre is a true
electronic group in that they make music that sounds
electronic... Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin make
electronic music, but it sounds more organic, which is good,
but Autechre makes more mechanical sounding music, sound
alive which is also good... Hmm, does this make sense? Ah
well...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-05 20:06 [#00066494]

well some of it is errie, but overall that's not really the
effect it leaves with me...

Quoth from Lincoln on 2002-01-05 20:41 [#00066502]

I understood it completely. Good insight.

Caserole Joe the Chubby from mpls on 2002-01-06 04:53 [#00066583]

The American releaseof Tri Rep is the one with the second
disc (Tri Rep++). It contains EPs Garbage and Anvil Vapre
(I'm pretty sure). They are as neccessary as the first
disc, imo. If you can't get the Americn release then get
ahold of the eps some time.

I'm such a horrible speller. I shall change my name to have
an 'e' where it should be.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-06 05:27 [#00066587]

some of the music I'm working on, now that's sterile and
crappy!!!!! :)

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-06 05:36 [#00066592]

I'll have to post the songs I'm working on somewhere to get
some feed back, baring in mind these are my first attempts
at music... my opinion is kinda biased... and so is my
parents... :)

you know, I read online last night that Autechre likes to
use hardware along with it's software, becase they feel that
staring at a computer screen for hours on end takes away
from the music, in that you begin to see it as a program or
soemthing you're working on, and not a song... I've found
that already... I'll be fiddling around with it for a bit,
and it just becomes annoying and stuff after a while staring
at the stupid screen...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-06 06:44 [#00066611]

Quoth from Lincoln on 2002-01-06 06:50 [#00066612]

conacure from Alaska on 2002-01-06 07:58 [#00066622]

I got my head in new Ae. I should probably owe a little more
credit to their works prior to the release of lp5.

conacure from Alaska on 2002-01-06 08:02 [#00066623]

Oh, and I've used an old version of Cool Edit and also
Stomper Ultra to make a few songs a couple years ago. They
weren't even designed for making songs! But they are good
for precision; every millisecond is taken into my
consideration.

Jimmy from Delaware on 2002-01-06 18:19 [#00066675]

word it is, but i got tri repetae, not tri repetae++ (no 2nd
cd)

Quoth from Lincoln on 2002-01-06 20:08 [#00066686]

well then you should get tri repetae++... because of the
bonus disc and it's kick ass soundz.

it had a picture of sailor moon on the back cover, but the
front cover was tri repetae...

'Eutow' is so sweet. The dizzy intro that turns buzzy. The
drums I've gotten used to, I always wanted to change them.
The part towards the ending with just beats and the buzzy
synth. Then the fantastic ending with the reverse sounding
sweeps. Bliss.

Also, this thread is really old isn't it?

my first Ae as well.. I firmly believe it's the best piece
of music ever recorded.. and I really don't go around saying
this about anything. Ae's best moment and imo music's best
moment. it's emotional and intellectual simultaneously, and
the absolute apex of each. Indescribable... :)
