''Coolest'' artists

Who is the baddest ass of them all? You can listen to them
in the presence of others and say, ''damn straight, I am
cool. I'm cool and special''. An artist you know will never
go out of style. It'll always be ''cool'' to like these
guys.

I'd say the Velvet Underground. There's something badass
about the early Rolling Stones, too, but they fucked that
up. Dylan is eternally cool, Leonard Cohen, Nick Drake, guys
like that. But above all, it's the MOTHER of all artsy
pretentious wankers, the VU.

Autechre ooze with coolness when it comes to IDM, though a
bit too many people dislike them... Amon Tobin is just one
cool cat, though.

After seeing Amon Tobin on TV, I'd have to say he's anything
but 'cool'

Agreed completely. That is just LAME. Although Music is
Rotted One Note rates VERRRY high on the coolness meter.

Miles Davis rates high, too. I can see my breath when I
listen to Bitches Brew or Kind of Blue. That's how cool it
is.

Snoop Dogg can't be cool, because people find him funny and
laugh at him behind his back. Who would DARE laugh at Lou
Reed?

Bob Dylan and John Lennon are VERY cool. :D LOVE John
Lennon. :)

And no one will agree with me ever, but I think Trent Reznor
and Tori Amos are cool, too. Maybe not by the same
definition as you have, but I think they are. *love*

Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash and YOU PEOPLE ARE UNBELIEVABLE
FOR NOT MENTIONING HIM SOONER:

Elvis Presley
- coolest birth name
- coolest hair
- coolest voice
- uncoolest fans (me included)

Tori Amos is definitely cool... Trent is just a whiny little
boy, though. ;-) He's talented, but too melodramatic for his
own good. There's got to be a certain degree of nonchalance.
Lennon is definitely cool... McCartney is definitely not.

And Johnny Cash! I was going to say that. I had a pic ready
and everything. Elvis, pre fatass, will always be synonymous
with cool as well.

Tommy Guerrero is cool. A skateboard champ who turned to
doing soulful funky Booker T inspired music? How fucking
cool is that?

But Miles is cooler. Fucker could play one note that said
everything other musicians couldn't say in their entire
careers. He had a croaky fucked up voice and a bad
attitude. Cool.

Bob Bert was the original drummer. He played on Bad Moon
Rising. But, I think they wanted a poppier more traditional
drummer... Bob played from the gut.

I'll keep an eye out for that Seventeen cover. You know who
really took my breath away lately, was Liv Tyler in LOTR II.
She was even more stunning than in the first one.

The idea of merging image and music is appaling and makes me
want to vomit. Even though it is essential to some degree, I
wish it wasnt.

Oh alright, I'm still missing that LP, I believe there was
an even different drummer on Confusion is Sex, wasn't there?
anyway, thanks for the info.
darius: yeah, Steve is quite cool too.

Liv Tyler is very good looking, more so in LOTR II like you
said, although I never thought she was a real bombshell or
anything. Although she looked great in Empire Records.

himself to others.

DUDE!

OPHECKS!

SCREWWWW YOU!

McCartney is a badass!

He blows Lennon out of the water.

Everyone knows McCartney was the musical genius of the
beatles. Lennon was the lyrical genius. But the music is
more important.

McCartney all the way.

Oh, and BoC are cool. They are just quiet and mysterious...
not giving a fuck... just doing their own thing.

Don't get your knickers in a knot! This isn't a question of
musical talent or anything... I agree, Paul is more of a
''musician'' than John. But John is ''cooler''! Paul is not
cool. When he was a Beatle, he was pretty cool, but his
subsequent work has killed his coolness... the Rolling Stone
effect! But yeah, when he was in his prime, nobody could
write a better melody.

John could still kick his ass anyway, musically or
physically. Shazam!

paul one-uped him and said "screw that! im too badass for a
shirt!"
