my own worst enemy

I am starting to realize that no one holds me back like I
do.

When shit goes wrong, I can deal. When I fuck things up
though, it takes so long for my own wounds to heal. I love
picking at the scars.

Anyway, becuase of this, I start intensive therapy on
Monday, to be continued as a go back to school.

Cognative Behavioral Therapy, I mentioned it before, but I'm
really doing it now, it will help me, I sure hope.

Suffice to say I'm scared, but ready. Time to stop being my
own worst enemy.

That last paragraph sounded like something from Papa Roach
or Linkin Park--is it a lyric from either of these two?

I would be insulted if I wasn't in a relaxed state.

While there is a song "My Own Worst Enemy" by a band called
Lit, the last line was just a spur of the moment rhyme that
summed up well what I was feeling.

Ok so, what does one do in a "Cognative Behavioral Therapy"
?! Are you talking to your psychatrist about your childhood
and stuff !?

no, it is with a Psychologist.

Basically, it is a few months of intensive therapy desinged
to help me figure out why I do some of the things I do, and
give me strategies to fix that.

Example:
I'm a smart guy, but get shit grades. Bascially I don't
study, even when I know I must.

I know all this, but I need to understand why I do this, and
what I can do to focus at the task at hand, especially
studying.

No prescription drugs or anything, just understanding, with
the help of a professional, what I can do to be less
nervous/anxious/procrastinating etc.

don't know about that, there isn't a cure for any of the
stuff that hampers me.

If you are bored, and that is effecting other aspects of
your life, then maybe that is something you can help you.

I'll no more on Monday

"Example:

Maybe because it's less interesting than other things?
....it was my main reason for having that problem

it IS less interesting, but I still need to do it.

You are probably 100% correct that this is the reason I
study so little, I do enjoy other kinds of stimulation more
than studying.

I need to figure out how to focus on that shit that needs to
get done as opposed to the stuff I wanna do.

What you need to do is sue the manufacturers of products you
find distracting.

Then you won't even need to study!
