(i was inspired by "Do IDM producers have other jobs? " thread)
imo they dont get enough promotion at all for example-today at work i was listening some of "this" music and my colleague from work liked it a lot-and she mainly listenes to pop music otherwise
its hard to hear idm on the radio, you cant (or hardly) get releases in music shops (at least here-as far as i know in some other countries you can but it is "well hidden").
I think there is plenty of idm tunes that could be on charts (i know we dont all like same music, but some idm stuff is really catchy for the ears, so i really dont see why there are hardly any idm tracks on charts-must be lack of promotion).
what are your thoughts on this?

intelligence kills promotion thatll never be as popular as the rest, or if it does it will become fake as the rest

ohh, i forgot how i got into this-it was really incidental. when i got into rdj's music i discovered aphextwin.nu, and if i didnt i dont know if i would knew any other idm musicians. since im in this forum i must've bought about 150+ brilliant albums by various artists which i doubt i would know about otherwise
and this is just sad

The only IDM album readily available here is the RDJ Album. I don't know why stuff like BOC isn't promoted more... it's ''harmless'' enough to not scare people away...

The only people on earth I can talk to about IDM is on the internet. I'd have no idea who Mike Paradinas or Tom Jenkinson are if not for this site. Depressing!

it ok to stay underground-but 5000 copies sold was mentioned in previous mentioned thread???
there are plenty of "underground" musicians that sell 100.000, so i cant see any reason why not promoting this music more

Having scarce contact with anyone let alone ppl who like IDM music, I've accepted that my appetite for this muic will probably end up being quenched by incidental advert music. THIS is sad. I just don't have the time or the money to trial buy and as stated the shops rarely stock much of the stuff anyway.

Ophecks > seriously. geogaddi was one of the 4 or 5 electronic records reviewed in the free magazine of the record shop the month it was released, it was the one with the most space on it (they gave it a 4/4)... and i heard geogaddi on tv too once...

ah ha ha, you were "inspired" by some other retarded group of retarded messages written by retards.
but it is a weird and cool concept for randomly scattered people interested in a bizarre obscure thing to be able to get together, as if close in space... even IF it results in something as stupid as this place.

i kind of like the fact that it's low profile, not widely popular. im sure the artists themselves dont agree with that though ($$$).

money aside, Id like as many people to hear my music as possible.
i mean, why not?
its kind of elitist to be like "no, only a certain amount, and a certain type of people can listen to my music"
maybe there are people who arnt like electronic addicts like we are, but everyonce in awhile theyd like to put my cd on, cause they are in the mood. whats wrong with that? i dont think its insulting to me or the genre. so why should i just limit it to the diehard fans who will only find it by sitting on the net all day and searching? Sure, they find it, so its kind of personal... but thats not what makes music. and im not talking about having commericals on tv saying "the new kcinsu album", but i dont want to just burry myself in alittle whole, and only have my music heard by a small amount of people. im proud of what i do, and i want to share it.
