I prefer getting money rather than presents, because things
are cheaper afterwards anyway

christmas is a corporate holiday. it's meant to make some
cash to the companies. it's capitalism. it's materialism.
it's consummerism at it's worst.

now let's all shut up and dive into the rushes in the
shopping malls....

*throws a pie at CORTEX*

yummy capitalist pie with your name on it!

8^)

Christmas in the beggining was never about being greedy or
material things, it was a time to share with friends and
family and reflect on the joy of giving.... and if your a
religeous person, its jesus's birthday.

I love the going to my grandma's and playing in the snow and
skiing!

I dont like how people expliot christmas and how little kids
now boast about how many gifts they got..... and whine about
the ones they didnt get... when they dont even understand
that there other kids that dont get shit for christmas, and
spend it on the streets

But christmas is my second favorite holidy, first place is a
tie with new years and the fourth of july

it SHOULD be about family reunion though.

personally, i dont mind the gifts as long as they're not
exagerated. i hate how my friends all spend 300$ for the
gifts they give to their gf. a little 30$ gift is enough,
the prices doesnt show how much you care. show her you love
her all year long instead!

thanks for the tasty pie btw ;)

same applies to parents and sisters and brothers and friends
and so on...

yeah buying massive gifts for everyone over 100 is kinda
messed up

I am happy with a few cd's from friends, and maybe a new
coffee cup

People should be happy with just getting a gift from a loved
one. But people take it to the extreme.

what's the ritual? instead of giving gifts, do you steal
them from one another?

Christmas is only good if you have people to be around.
People you belong with. If you're generally lonely (like me)
or a lonely soul (like me) it's a bag of shit.

yeah, that's cruel... besides they're starting to talk about
xmas so early now, it makes it last even longer... i can
imagine how it is! :(

*struggles a smile*

Appreciate that. I can't believe it's a joke to people when
I tell people I'm going to kill myself. I hope when/if I
finally do they make take things a little more serious.

i was on another board some months ago, and when someone was
telling (s)he was going to commit suicide, only a few of
them believed him/her... people joking about it, encouraging
him/her and all that...

it's a tough situation, people don't realize (and can't
realize) if the person is really suicidal or not, what's
really going on.

i think on this board people are more mature, but still, i
don't know...

I'm haven't got the guts at the end of the day...plus it is
sort of unfair on the (few) people I leave behind.

offline uzim on 2002-11-29 09:53 [#00461156]
Points: 17716 Status: Lurker

most people in real life already have a tendency to avoid
the depressed and suicidal (afraid of them, afraid of
getting 'contaminated', or just pissed?)
and this tendency is even stronger on the internet where we
don't actually see the persons...

offline uzim on 2002-11-29 10:03 [#00461161]
Points: 17716 Status: Lurker

maybe your life should only belong to yourself, and no one
else... i don't know... i can't help thinking how my parents
would be sad if i did it -_-
but anyway it's hard to get the courage to commit suicide
for real

do you know other people who tried commiting/commited
suicide?
