i own the pink floyd box set (9 cds)

its nice but i guess you're already gonna have all the
albums anyway... and its incomplete (no piper, aarrggh!) it
comes with some nice postcards and a big hardback book which
is very nice though so thats some compensation)

i also have the syd barrett box set (3 cds, flimsy book,
nice place under cd to hide drugs) & the adam & the ants box
set (3 cds, very nice, lots of rare stuff, i recommend)

to be honest, i'm not really into box sets. they very rarely
give value for money and you usually have about half the
stuff already on other cds / albums

I have:
Metallica: Live Shit: Binge and Purge, which is 3 CDs and 3
videos

The Who: 30 Years of Maximum R and B, that's 4 CDs

Led Zeppelin: Complete Studio Recordings, it's ALL of their
albums, 9 of them.

The Rolling Stones: Singles Collection, The London Years, 3
discs

I dunno if this counts, but I have the 8 video Beatles
Anthology

Bob Dylan: Biograph, the 1997 version, 3 discs... my uncle
just gave me this a while ago.

A good number, but I don't feel inclined to state which.
There's a Joy Division box with six of their records in
it--pretty cool. :)

Jimi Hendrix box set, 4 cds and a big booklet, good but I

although i guess thats not really a box set either....there
arent really many good bands with box sets mostly only onld
bands(but if your into older stuff mostly then i guess its
your sorta thing)

Sometimes I wish you could just buy the books that come with
box sets seperately... my uncle has hundreds of box sets and
I could just spend all day in his basement reading them...
but I have most of the CDs already. I want those damn books!

oh yeah, how the hell did i miss the best one: Dischord: 20
years 3 cds, big booklet, I really like this, booklet is
great. if your into the dischord stuff i reccomended but i
dont reccomend it if you already have a lot of the bands cds
already.

offline MachineofGod from the land of halo's (United States) on 2002-10-29 20:32 [#00420871]

if your only familiar with a few bands and like it all I
reccomend it a lot. i think its $25 from dischord.com , so
id check that out.

i only have:

xen cuts (ninja tune 10 year anniversary) which almost isn't
a boxed set - 3 discs and it doesn't take up too much space

nin and all that could have been deluxe edtiion - again,
doesn't take up too much space, and inside the nice cloth
packaging it's just two discs

tool salival vhs version - i should've waited a few months
till i had a dvd player. very bulky and for a band like tool
they really were pretty stingy with the rarities and live
tracks. for the size of the set it should have at least
three discs including a whole concert.

i considered getting joy division heart & soul but i
chickened out i guess. i'm not a big enough fan of the
smashing pumpkins to get the aeroplane flys high; instead i
had a friend burn all 5 discs onto 2 cd-r's.

i should've gotten the pink floyd boxed set but in some ways
i'm glad i didn't. some pink floyd songs really annoy me.
it's mostly roger waters' fault for his singing and lyrics.

in my dreams there are boxed sets of unreleased tracks by
nin and afx...

The Nuggets box set is truly amazing, all the 60s garage
bands, 4 discs with 30 tracks on each disc, never tire of
listening to it.

and a Hardfloor remix box set, 4 disc vynil in a flip top
box.

"the smashing pumpkins arent good"

hum....... care to share? I personally find that box set
terribly well done. Not super duper amazing, but very
refined and exciting. Had lots of new stuff, lots of
classic stuff from MCIS, so yes, please expand on that
thought

I've bought a box-set twice in my life--and it was the same
one - The 3CD syd barrett box set that dobbin mentioned,
with all the outtakes and the booklet...Sadly, I lost it
both times :(

Pink Floyd! gRrr

I'm a very absent minded kinda fellow, Echo---they just
DISAPPEAR when my back is turned!! I lost all those CDs
about 8 years ago now, so I've overcome my grief =b

i'm a little lazy so i'm not going to type the exact name of
the box sets but these are the artists i've got box set by.

police
emerson lake palmer
nick drake
moody blues
manheim steemroller
doors-black one
enya-book of dreams
led zep.-complete studio works
john denver
steve reich
john adams

i would say that the three best here are steve reich, john
adams, and nick drake all three of these are worth picking
up. or in reality saving up for.

I have the Nightmare on Elm Street boxset. I know it's not
music but it's great. I don't have any musical boxsets but
if they ever release that Nirvana one they're talking about
then I'll get that.

That's the American one by the way. The English one is
missing two films and doesn't have the bonus disc.

script, cards, directors cut, poker chips, crocodile skin
effect case etc.

I don't have any others, I'm not a big "collector"...

I bought that Spiritualized 12 x 3"CD box, sucker that I am.
Haven't opened it. I have 5 bjork singles & video boxed sets
which look mighty nice but completely fail to fit on my CD
shelf. Also have a Pulp box with the first 4 albums in it
which cost me a tenner :)
Don't go for boxed sets that much really though.

everything you would want to know about the making of the
album x 2. next I need the get the complete bitches brew.
