it's probably one of those crazy swedish nazis. they're so silly like that, trying to prove their worth in the world by force through violence. sounds stupid, doesn't it? now you know how you all sound.
every country is violent, every country has killers, we're all bad people when it boils down to it. just accept it and shut up. you're no better than anyone else.

Agreed.
Zaphod: When something is happenning on the other side of the world, it seems a little "unreal" to you, it's hard to take it "seriously" (wrong word, but the first that springs to mind). It's like Jack the Ripper, actually bloody horrible what he did, but the fact that it happened so long ago seperates it from your perception of reality and makes it more entertaining...

Entertaining might be the wrong word. Interesting would be better I think.
I'm not someone that loves the US or anything crazy like that. But a psycho running round killin innocents (assuming they are innocents) is fucked up whether its in Washington or Bali or Manchester or anywhere.

he'll slip up at some point. its really not funny though, as one of the shootings happened in the county i live in. try walking through a parking lot at night without any worry that you might get picked off. its hard to do when this kind of thing happens so close to where you live.

Do you think that easy access to firearms contributes to all these psychos gunning people down in the US? You can't get hold of that sort of weapon (legally)here without going through shitloads of police checks, and having a legitimate reason for having it. And 'Just incase the English return' isn't a legitmate reason in my book!

I think if it was (don't think it is) a govt. conspiracy, tarot cards would be a nice touch to make it look like a psycho.
I think it's probably some sort of serial killer. Whether or not he gets caught depends on how "greedy" he gets- if he left it for 6 months then resumed for just a couple of days, he could probably get away with it indefinately. He'll probbaly keep doing it till he gets caught and then get commited on grounds of insanity, before becoming a celebrity and doing the talk show circuit...

he's random and he pays attention to the media. it's the perfect combination.
peronally i hate the mass media. i've taken jounalism classes, and they teach you to glamorize everything so it is entertaining. it it's not shark attacks and child abduction, it's a sniper..... just like the theory that war is good business. this sniper thing is a great product to sell to people. it's better than a tv show.
of course i do want the guy to be stopped, but i guarantee when he is, it will just continue to be a media candy bar.

Bearing in mind that silencers aren't the same as in the movies. They're generally holes drilled in the barrel. This stops the gas escaping all at once. The downside is a slower bullet but you'll still not dodge one Neo style. I can't be assed to give a more technical description.

I dont know that this guy fits into the classic serial killer mould. Most (that I've heard about) usually torture there victims, and gain pleasure from the ritual of the killing, which is why it is usually so easy to link the killings... cos the bodies are all fucked up in the same way. This guy uses 1 shot, and presumably leaves the scene as soon as he has taken it. It seems to be alot more about scaring the shit out of the population than gaining pleasure from the death of someone. Which would point to a terroist organisation, or military person IMO
