Haha. I love this piece. He can´t be serious. He is a
suprisingly decent singer though.

oh goodness, thats not his song man, it's a joy division
song. I think it's kinda remix but not really.

could be a cover I suppose, I thought it was the original
through some really bad eq. but if it is a cover there is
no reason we could know it's squarepushers voice singing it.

I meant to say there is no way I could know. Not we.
Meaning I only downloaded the album not bought it so I don't
have liner notes. But yes I suppose the internet would be a
source to find this stuff out too. but then I don't care
enough.

Get the original and compare.
I think pushers is more relaxing.
love it.

i think its kinda rushy..... subtle, delicate.... has a
mood...... love the banging symobls, hi-hats. The voice is
great........... good old Tom..... he´s a fucking talented
nutter. A legend... must get the stuff he did on that Lo
Recordings sampler.. Tom Jenkinson and freinds. Anyone get
it?

I don't like that cover at all, but his voice is pretty
delicate and interesting... cool approach. The music just
doesn't do it for me.

i feel the complete opposite... i love the music and
instrumentation... but his voice is very weak... hence why
is so buried in the mix

*and by weak i dont mean delicate... i mean bad

Errmm... that's my whole argument. I rest my case.

if you want to hear a good joy division cover, listen to NIN
cover dead souls.

Not ''good'', just ''interesting''... it was weird and got
my attention, ''(whudda fuck iz ZAT?'') and I find myself
listening to the song just to hear his weak-ass voice. Some
kind of perverse fascination with it... it sucks, but I like
it.

one of those songs which if anyone covered would be an
injustice. and it is.

v. poor, tom.

if you listen to the song and mess with the equalizers
enough, you can hear the voice a lot better.

my car and my computer don't play the song that well, but I
played it on some 15" speakers over a pa system and it
sounded a lot better

i like tom's singing on love will~ better than his rapping
on f-train. people have criticized this cover for not being
different enough, but i think tom took some significant
creative liberties with it. it's sung differently. ian
curtis sings with his whole heart, and tom is singing it
like a shy boy in love who is having some trouble getting
the words out (obviously the shyness is on purpose, give tom
some credit). the instrumentation is much softer and more
acoustic than the original too. i really like his cover, but
if we MUST think in black and white terms (which gets
tiresome on this board, don't you think?) then the original
is obviously better.

good joy division covers besides this one:
nin 'dead souls'
bis 'love will tear us apart' (a humorous cover)
and the entirety of the 'a means to an end' tribute album,
especially the covers by girls against boys, moby, tortoise,
and low.
