My order of preference:

1. Nintendo GC
2. Sony PS2
3. Xbox

I've considered buying it too....but it doesn't have DVD and
I have got no DVD player :-S

yeah, but this is my point of view.
Nintendo GC is born only for play the videogames and i think
it's the best.
I miss DVD too, but I bought GAMECUBE 'cos i wanted the best
consolle for play videogames and GC is the best, imo. Next
time i'll buy a real dvd too.
The GC games has a lot of creativity and fantasy more so ppl
call all this... "The Nintendo difference"

Anyway Playstation2 is much better than Xbox, imo.

GC has only got a few good games so far (star wars, smash
bros. melee and a few others, luigi's mansion) I would like
to have PD Zero, Metroid Prime, Zelda etc. but it'll be a
while before they are released...

In this period, I'm playing with PIKMIN and it's an amazing
game too. Then the 4 October i'm waiting for Supermario Bros
sunshine.
Don't forget RESIDENT EVIL, a scary but wonderful game.

hire out the machines and games you are interested in.. give
them all a go..

the games are what you buy a machine for..

a stand alone dvd player is pretty cheap now.. or you could
import the panasonic gamecube that can play dvds also ..

The best console is with no doubt Xbox.
It is not the best one if you just buy your games in the
store but if you get that "chip" or whatever you call it,
then you will get the best game machine ever.
BUt you will have to put all the components inside the
machine yourself.
not very easy but well worth it.
It took about 5 hours to put all the components at the right
place.
You guys who have done the same thing with your old ps1
knows what im talking about. but this was 5 times harder.
I meen come on. dvd, vcd, download every game you want from
the internet and you can fill like 5-7 games saved into the
actuall xbox. or burn them on rewritale cd-roms. Many of my
friends
has done that chip thing and they are more satisfied than
ever.
I dont think Microsoft likes it but we poor people without
money...yes we like it a lot. ...fun fun fun fun fun fun fun
fun fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...and a even greater + is that you can play nes 64, nes 16
bit and alot of other games like arcade and others just like
you do on your pc.
the x box is a dream machine!

I read somewhere ( certainly on /.) that you can run mame
(this fabulous arcade emulator) on the Xbox -> So I would
definitively buy this Xbox & load it with megs of old arcade
games. Make sure first that my previous info is correct :)

PS2 has been on the scene for way longer than the XBOX....
so its backed up a fair catalog of games.

Give the XBOX some time to catch up.

I dont own any of the top 3 consoles these days :-/

yeah its true but it depends on how much money youre willing
to put out on games etc... if youre just in it for
downloading games you should defenatly get an xbox.

My choice would be Playstation 2, heres why:

The Xbox does have a *bit* better graphics for most games,
but not all, there are lots of PS2 games that have just as
good graphics, if not rivaling to be better. They will get
better too, just like they did for ps1, remember those first
games? Shitty graphics, the last of the ps1 games had a lot
better graphics, game play and all that. So the ps2 will get
better and better, so will the games. Already, the ps2, like
the ps1 is known for its massive selection of amazing games,
I myself own 8 games for the ps2, and by the end of this
month I will have bought 3 more.

It also depends on what games, or type of game, or even
series you are interested in. Companies only release certain
games on certain systems sometimes, like Nintendo runs the
Resident Evil series only, and GTA3 and GTA3: vice city (the
new grand theft auto this month! yay!). And the list goes
on....

Its a bad question to ask which one is the best, but more
which one you should like the most. I tried all three new
systems (gamecube, xbox and I have owned a ps2 for a year).
I enjoyed the ps2 the most, and I still do. There are so
many good games to get.

Hmmm.....both the DVD-GameCube and the modified Xbox sound
like music to my ears.....
At this point I must confess I like the xbox games more (PS2
and GC fans cannot deny: Halo fucking rules!). On the other
hand I've really enjoyed those typical N64 titles like Zelda
and Perfect Dark and they will most certainly not be
released for xbox or PS2.....Xbox and GC are in my top 2 at
the moment
I think I will give a good night's sleep

oh and by the way Halo sucks im afraid. the single player
is almost completely nonexistent(awful), multiplayer is not
even that fun, I think, also it has godawful controls. this
game did nothing to further develop the fps genre. Ill wait
for doom3,unreal tourn2003\unreal2 and half life 2 to do
that.

Gamecube is my fave... Nintendo just has this magic that
Sony and Microsoft lack. Sega had the magic in the Genesis
days... what this magic is, I'm not sure. But Mario,
Metroid, Zelda... Nintendo is the be all and end all.
