it had no direction or motive\point until the last half hour or so but then it all fit together. slow film, have to be patient. this is not an oppioned matter the film is slow ask anyone |

the only good thing i think of Easy Rider is that it was a COmmercial success and allowed the New Hollywood directors to get some kind of a foothold in Hollywood for just a little while |

i like taxi driver. one of my fav films actually. try ikiru. a classic from Kurasowa and really moving. one of the best movies of the fifties. |

the seventh seal by ingmar bergman, seems that people either love or hate bergman films...either way i think it's a pretty decent old movie. |

actually, any Kurasowa film would do. Seven Samuari is obvious, and then Ikiru, can't stress how good this movie is. Ran as well, though its not that old. Try strangers on a train. good hitchcock. |

if you like Taxi Driver, buy Mean Streets, which is by Scorsese and stars Robert De Niro and Harvery Keitel -- it predates Taxi Driver by a couple of years |

midnight express was a harrowing film....very good i highly recommend. apocalypse now is one of ze best WAR movies blue velvet is a WEIRD lynch flick that deserves a watch or twelve to understand it....ehehhe and i just recently purchased butch cassidy and the sundance kid.....and it's DAMN good.....very old movie... amadeus is a great movie if you enjoy wolfey's music and just an interesting story. - i second these: deer hunter ran taxi driver i enjoyed Taxi Driver so much i own the DVD..... |

is a pretty cool australian movie.. released in 1987 .. set when skylab is falling back to earth (1978).. about a bunch of people living in a house in melbourne.. there is no real plot to it, more like a big brother kinda thing.. just follows them on their miscivious exploits.. also great music.. |

very good film indeed that Cabinet of Dr Calgari. DYK it's made in the abstract expressionist style although don't quote me on that. These Very very old films are just so amazing to watch there's King Kong aswell. |

just finished gone with the wind and...I think I liked it... but of course it was rather long. did anyone see the conversation by copolla? I believe he did it between the filming of the first and second godfather. you get to see an early gene hackman. harrision ford also has a minor role as a cia agent if I remember correctly. does anyone here like straw dogs with dustin hoffman? |

anyways, most of the movies mentioned here I wouldn't call "older movies".. Desdemona: good call on "Das kabinet" - freaked me out to no end!! taxi driver: a bit overrated. hated the ending.. one of my older favourites is "Sweet smell of success" (1957) - great powerplay, thrilling.. also classic sci-fi: "the day the earth stood still".. the robot Gort still scares the shit out of me.. |

I agree completely on: - all things Stanley Kubrick - all things old by John Carpenter (especially Dark Star) - night&dawn of the living dead - invasion of the bodysnatchers(78 version) brilliant! beautiful opening scenes with the spores leaving their planet and raining down on ours - wonderful crips images.. - silent running I have a soft spot for this one.. still makes me fill up when I see it (those little robots..).. love the extremely slow pace.. - the andromeda strain nice, although all the tension fizzles away in the last 10 minutes. - the exorcist well.. what can I say.. bring me a young priest and an old priest.. |
