Oh yes, remember us Autechre.nu cats are re-routed to this MB. Autechre lead the way in my books. Here's why: IMHO Autechre have better melodies, more interesting rhythms and a more exciting and engaging vision of where this music can go. Those who think Incunabula and Amber are their best work just don't get it. That's fine, those folks can stick with AFX. |

I had been into AFX since about 1995 and was desperately seeking new electronic music listening I listened to Chiastic Slide when it came out in 1997 and thought it was shite. After a couple of days I returned it to HMV and bought In Sides instead. It was more my thing at the time. But when LP5 came out, I picked it up and immediately got it. I was completely blown away. Since then I have gone back through their catalog and purchased many of their older releases. So what bias does this reveal? (Not being sarcastic - truly interested.) |

thirdball-then isn't just as fair to say that people who think that confield or lp5 is ae's best just didn't get it(back then). I as well as a lot of people here dig all of ae's work. amber was the first release I picked up before all the others. sometimes I think it is what one hears first that stands the test of time as being a favorite. perhaps thats what Quernstone meant. man, I certainly don't think of myself as being less cool than you because amber is my favorite. |

I disagree this is great. perceptor, I wasn't saying that anyone is less cool for liking any particular Ae release - what I intended to say was that people who are only into the first two releases just don't appreciate where Autechre went after that. They just don't understand is all. They just don't get it. |

the first ae I heard was amber, still like amber but I LOVE chiastic slide, which is the 2nd one I bought. I agree with thirdball: ae are at least more interesting musically. their evolution is so much more interesting and challenging than AFX and unlike AFX, I think ae will keep surprising us all for many, many years to come. and I'll never fall for OKs totalitarian regime (yeah, it starts with a little club, before you know it they want to rule the world). |
