pretty self explanitory....

For me it's a tie between Ghost in the Shell, and Ninja
Scroll.

Also, on a side note, can anyone here confirm or deny that
there is an SAW2 ad. in one of the macross movies?

you're talking about? i don't relaly watch anime but i'd
remembered seeing it before on the website and it sounds
similar to what you're talking about.

Akira is good - I have noticed that there is a DVD release
now, here in the UK. I might buy it. My other favourite
Anime include the Cyberpunk Collection, and the Street
Fighter II V series.

I've only ever seen about half of Akira. I got bored. I do
love the animation however and would appreciate any
recommendations. Is there anything with good acting?

Seriously, are there any that have a story to match the
animation?

obsession with young girls too.

just the particular style.

What's with all the knee socks and schoolgirl look. Its a
bit sus no?

I heard there's vending machines in Japan where you can get
used schoolgirls underwear.

i prefer ghost in the shell
i dont know much anime, but i was dissapointed about the
film Akira, the comic is absolutely great, brilliant... i
read it 3 times. All of Otomos manga's are great, lot of
destruction and war, drama.

Sexual undertones? Well, yes of course, but Anime is aimed
at a more mature audience isn't it Jonesy? When was the last
time you saw Disney animals having sex with each other???
(Lets not go down that road though....)

I'd say... Cowboy Bebop, Ninja Scroll and Transformers: The
Movie! Blood was far to short for me to say it's good I'm
afraid...

3x3 is one of my faves as well...

Is that new one realesed yet? Metropolis?

It's not in the UK anyway.

My dictionary says 'anime is a style of animation developed
in Japan, characterized by stylized colorful art, futuristic
settings, violence, and sex'

socks/dresses and are scantily clad. I'm not calling Anime

I see what you mean Chri5py - it's probably catogorised
purely on the basis of the way it is draw not by the
content.

The characters in Transformers though, the humans, don't
have the 'anime' styling though do they? They dont have the
big eyes - like in other cartoons. Pokemon, I'd say was
Anime, because there it is clear to see from the character
design.

The animator's imaginations are weird and well different o
thos in the West. The icons and images of Japan really
intrigue me.

The first time I saw an anime cartoon when I was younger ...
I was shocked! You just don't expect to see 'those kind of
goings on' in cartoons....well I didn't anyway. And the
violence portrayed in them is no different really from the
kind of violence seen in Hollywood blockbuster films....

I really think there is a misconception that
animation/cartoons are just for kids, and it isn't!

One of my mates (I should see him again in Bristol) used to
be able to draw anime really well. One of my girlfriend's
mates, a japanese guy can did an anime picture of her
before. He did some band's album cover too, anime
charactetures of all the band members, very cool.

About of the big eyes doesnt the disney characters have big
eyes too? But manga and anime characters dont always have to
have those big eyes to be manga its about the artists style,
manga are comic-books drawn in japan, anime are movie
animations made in japan thats it.

My fav animes are:
-Akira (nothing beats it)

-Ninja Scroll
