"I spent 7 hours on the phone to royal mail yesterday,
spoke to 16 people!
They were ready last Friday, hopefully tomorrow, up to
royal
mail but I am busting a gut and you have our empathy, don't
worry... Be excited :) As mentioned in the mailout,
problems
every step of the way, cottage industry vs. international
corporations for ya! Apologies.."

i don't understand this...is he negotiating or what?

I think he's arranging the posting of so many parcels all at
once and seeing how to go about it. I don't envy that task
as

a) Royal Mail are fucking useless twats.
b) I'm lazy and want my analord.

I have never had a single issue with UPS or DHL. Why Royal
Mail? durrrrrr.

If you're a business, other couriers are fine. If you're
getting something shipped to a home address, royal mail best
IMO. Reasons:

1. Consistantly put "we tried to deliver a parcel for you"
slips through the door.

2. Pick up points are near to most people- I've never had to
go more than 3 miles, from any address, to collect a parcel.
Compared to 20 miles with some couriers, that's a big
bonus.

3. It's usually not battered to pieces when it arrives (DHL
and Citylink have both knackered things sent to me, royal
mail never has).

That's not to say royal mail are flawless- they're slow,
overpriced and prone to "lose" things. Personally, I reckon
a lot of "losing" things are pikey postmen stealing them,
but there you go.

hmm, but there's like 1000 pieces, 2000 at best...im sure
even royal mail can deal with that. is no one using
conventional mail in uk anymore?? first they close it down
for like two weeks and then they're having troubles sending
out 1000 parcels?? even the post offices in the uncivilized
world (here) do that without a problem...i hope someone gets
it by tomorrow and puts it on slsk coz it's killing me!!!

Do we know how many were available before they sold out? I
ordered pretty late. Can I look at my reference number and
tell if I'll be getting anal... ?

Me too, I have been consitently late for work this week as I
have waited for the postman every bloody morning after what
Grant said. Balls!!!!!!!!

Maybe B2B is better with couriers which is what I usually
use and not one complaint: good service and quick. Perhaps
you are right that RM is better for bulk mailing though.
Seems odd that the couriers don't grab this slice of the
market though. Surely there is a stack of cash to be made
here.

Royal mail used to do "normal" post- letters, bills etc. at
close to cost and make their money from shipping parcels.
Consequently, we've seen several couriers spring up that
deal exclusively in parcels and hence, can undercut royal
mail by quite a considerable margin.

As a result, it wouldn't suprise me if 2000 parcels going
through one small (local to rephlex HQ) post office caused
some disruption.

I'm not one for state sponsored capitalism, nor vehemently
anti-privitisation on principle, but the mail is one thing
that should of definately stayed centralised with
government, IMO.

Erm, Back on topic:

Have the delays with this release (10) been purely down to
the binder/mailing them out yourselves? More importantly,
can we expect 1-9 to be on time?

Also, can you confirm there will indeed be 10 releases in
total? You're not going to skip any numbers or add any in,
eg analord 9a, analord 9b on different records etc.

Are there 10 spaces in the wallet, or space for 10 proposed
releases? Eg are some releases going to span 2 discs?

wasn't it being pressed on demand?

it would be pretty shitty to send a confirmation e-mail and
then you'd still not know whether you'd actually get
anything.

i dont reall understand how it would take over a week to
arrange for royal mail to pick up the reords , bearing in
mind it is going out in two batches anyway. at this rate
grant could've driven around in a lorry around the UK and
dropped them all off. then upsd the rest.

office sends them forward. that must mean rephlex still
haven't send them out... :(

actually I'd like to trim it down and ask:

How many slots are in the binder for holding records, and/or
will the binder reflect on how many records will be released
in this series?
