Imagine a world of deaf people. Everyone who exists is deaf, and anyone who is born will be deaf. No one knows about the existence of sound. Now let's say that one of these deaf people was walking along one day, and for two minutes they were suddenly able to hear sounds. After two minutes they resumed to their normal deaf existence. How do you imagine they would try to explain to others what theyhad just experienced? They couldn't. If anyone can think of a possible way please share. |

Uhhhm a few things. 1. Scientificly its impossible for people that were born, or just never could hear: to hear again. Its impossible, since the brain never developed to learn sounds. Even if some way their ears could work again, they wouldn't do anything. Its like having the wrong program for the wrong computer.. just doesn't even register that its there. 2. Even if you were to throw all science out the window on this one, how would he explain to other deaf people what he heard!? Considering two points on this, if everyone was deaf there would be no language, and secondly how would anyone know what he was saying? 3. This person couldn't draw what he "heard" because there was NO hearing before, so there would be nothing he could draw or immitate that would make someone think of a sound.. that they had never heard before!?.. I don't think that this topic is going anywhere. :] |

have you ever read the giver? it is a book about a world that is completly boring. People live like robots and they don't know what music is. they can basially only hear sounds that they can see happening. Just think how aweful one day would be without music. Let alone a lifetime. |

cool topic. "The Giver" is a book about a world that is black and white and a kid starts to see color. The cool part is the reader doesnt know that it is black and white till late in the book. |

has anyone read "flatlanders?" it's about these organisms that live in a completely 2D universe - they only know forwards, backwards, sidewards etc. it is impossible for them to comprehend a third dimension of depth. just like we can't comprehend a fourth dimension in our 3D-minded brains. interesting shit |

THIS IS STUPID. how many of you are actually deaf or even know someone who is deaf. you are all ignorant. deaf people can enjoy music and dance to it. after all sound is the vibration of particles which can be felt by anyone. ever stood next to a pa system or put your face in front of a sub woofer. just 'cos our ears work better we "hear" these vibrations with more clarity. |

How about this one? imagine a person born that had two colours reversed. If you would see the workld through his/her eyes, trees would be red. traffic signs would be green. traffic lights would looked reversed if seen through his/her eyes. We would NEVER know - it is UNprovable ! |
