I love these guys...So mellow and smooth...Really floats and
drifts through the background of whatever room you happen to
be listening to them in....

Anyone?

doki from grmny on 2002-01-14 16:16 [#00069759]

Pusher of the Square from mars on 2002-01-14 18:59 [#00069824]

I would have to agree. Thievery Corperation is great stuff.
Its way mellow. But I have listened to Nightmars on Wax's
Smokers Delight and I think that is supercool as well.
Really layed back stuff. As a friend of mine once said "Its
music you can only listen to at 12:00 at night in a fararri
crusing on the 5 freeway smoking a cigar"

doki from grmny on 2002-01-15 09:17 [#00070116]

Shame that it all sounds so similar tho - Personally I
prefer K+D .. (altho they are quite over-rated -> nice
chilled shit, KnD Sessions esp.)

doki from grmny on 2002-01-15 12:58 [#00070180]

thx man!

doki from grmny on 2002-01-15 13:00 [#00070184]

i like the k+d dj kicks more somehow ... try out peace
orchestra and suzuki - side projects of k+d - killer!!

Get your hands on Thievery Corporation's "Live On The
Breezeblock". If you are able to. :-)
It's good dub spiced up by them.

i've got sounds from the thievery hi-fi and it is, well, a

it's mellow allright but something is missing.

that is truly not what i had expected. i had heard them on
some compilations and bought the album but i did not like so
much as i expected.

what kind of music did you peg them as after hearing the
compilation tracks and how would you best describe thievery
hi-fi? that's the mix cd right, not a studio album?

maybe i am not making myself so clear.
i thought, when i bought it, that it was mellow
trippy-hoppy/dubby sounds (because it sounded like that in
the compilations).

when i bought 'sounds from the thievery hi-fi' (2x12", not a
mix cd) i noticed it was somewhat like i had expected, with
the mellowness, trippyhoppiness, dubbiness etc.
but i just did not like the album so much after
listening to it a few times.

so my opinion about it is that it is not exactly bad in any
way, there is just something wrong in the sound.

i see.. it just got old quick. yea, it sucks when albums do
that. thanks for clarifying :)
