This site has lots of great links to all kinds of
stuffs on chord progressions an shit. Exactly what I was
looking for; maybe someone else was looking for it too.
Guitar oriented but hey notes are notes.

Great link. Have you seen the track listing for the new Ae
album?

The I, ii, iii, IV, V, vi, vii track or whatever it is on
the CD seems to be titled after chord progression theory.

as for the site..... guitar music is structured in a
different way to, say, piano music... different instruments,
different styles etc etc

What's a VV? A third an octave up?

?

V would be the five chord... and VV would be the secondary
dominant of V. but I still doubt it.

I just added the two fives together.

@_@

So reckoning from C, VV would be D 'cause it's a fifth from
G?

yep

but it would be a D Dominant 7
... a major chord, with a flat 7. (D F# A C)

instead of D minor 7 (D F A C)

Oh right, F# 'cause we're thinking in G now.

I must admit I've never seen that VV symbolism before... do
you use it to notate progressions based on the circle of
5ths?

well, its usually written V/V

you use it, when you want to put a strong movement to a
certain chord.

it can be done on any chord. V/ii, V/iii, V/IV etc.

It just cadences to that chord.

The characteristic of the V/(whatever) chord, is that its
always dominant. That its, a major chord, with a flat 7.
