to these ears it sounds like a dj 12" ie it's pretty club
orientated so it makes sense that it's on rec ord only
know what i mean ?
if you buy club records they're mainly vinyl only

like they said "it's a vinyl only release - it was meant to
be like that - you can hear it"

offline Loogie from Oxford (United Kingdom) on 2003-01-14 12:00 [#00513987]
Points: 1371 Status: Lurker

fair enough, but i buy a lot of upbeat electronic music and
techno on CD, don't see why club music must only be vinyl

also, did we establish who astrobotnia definietly is???
(sorry i've been away for a while)

dunno what they mean by that.. doesn't sound far different
in style from 1 and 3 to me

astrobotnia=group of rephlex musicians

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2003-01-14 12:12 [#00514007]

astrobotnia=ovuca

rephlex=want to maintain a fierce "collector's" following,
hence the vinyl-only bitch move (sorry grant). it fucks me
off when labels do that cos i won't buy vinyl-only releases.

what you say makes sense, and i despise that "collectors"
mentality! music is for listening to, not for witholding.

Rephlex have cut right back with the quality of their record
covers. The last full-cover print I can remember is k-rock.
ok transllusion as well.
but astrobotnia 1,2,3, the new pproy, ab3 re-issue. I hate
that.

mind you having said that the albums only cost 7-50 each so
you could get all 3 on vinyl for 20 quid. i think the cds
were a bit more expensive.

astrobotnia=ovuca for sure, there was even an interview in
grooves saying it was him. i think its the issue with boc on
the cover.

I still think Astro 2 is a collaboration deal... hence the
reason it's special an all. A lot of the treatment done on
that EP sounds nothing like 1 and 3. The first track on Part
2 is so afx it's not even funny. Sounds too much like the 2
remixes by afx . Part 2 is my fav by far.

dude you should transcribe that !
it said the same in an issue of sleaze nation in the uk +
ovuca has performed live a sastrobotnis - thetre is no
question it's not him

I do think and believe Ovuca is Astrobotnia on 1 and 3 ...
and LIVE... I just believe my views for part 2.

i think when astro/ovuca is playing live that hes doing more
than playing .wav files off of his laptop.

yeah, but he being a producer him self surely can do that,
and above all he has access to all that astrobotnia samples
and stuff
i saw him live playing astrobonia and i surely didnt notice
anything to be certain he's the one
for all i care he can be astrobotnia or not, i really dont
care, but its just kind of silly to me how some ppl here can
be certain about it
