it sucks ... i have both, there are 2 mini cd's. and it
sucks .... just aphex tracks who are pitched and
oversteered, routed through some filters and effects ...

It's remixes of the better known Aphex Twin tracks by the
"remix artist" V/Vm. 2 Guys who do unlicensed remixes of
lots of popular tracks as well as lesser known ones like
Aphex.

My favourite release by them would have to be The Caretaker
(their ambient alias) - A Stairway to the Stars. A very good
re-working of lots of old ballroom and choral pieces. A bit
like SAW 2 but largely vocal.

Here's their website.

Ha ha ha, look at their latest prank. Read the bit at the
bottom of the page. I can't imagine the look on the face of
the unsuspecting fan of the crankies when they play this for
the first time!

mm. just listened to some excerpts from "A stairway to the
stars" and it did not sound very impressive.

Sadly the 2 best tracks, "emptiness" and "friends pas
reunited" aren't on there. Plus the audio quality of those
extracts is rubbish...

Stairway to the Stars is nice. Spooky but mellow.

Most of their music is just "silly" remixes, lots of FX and
filters run over classic songs etc. but A Stairway to the
Stars is good.

As for their website... well, Rephlex don't exactly have a
nice looking one ;)

I checked out V/VM´s 12" containing their "remixes" of
Bruce Springsteen, Paul Young and Tiffany (or what her name
is..?).
One word: RUBBISH!!!

...and NOT in the good sense of the word.

In your opinion.

Where the originals not cheesy shit pop rubbish that a
monkey with a pen stuck up his ass could write? And the
remixes sound horrible? So there is no difference then. }:>
You can listen to the shit original or the shit remix.

I admire v/vm and they certainly have their place.

Yes, to be fair the only things the remixed that didn't
deserve it were the AT ones and also the Joy Division
one. Like Spikee says, the originals of those suck, at least
the remixes are funny.

Oh Aphex deserved it. He went silent for ages after
Windowlicker but on the other claw he was prolly thinking
'Fuck! I'm getting too popular, lay low lay low.' Or even
releasing albums under another name, or just having some
chill time. Like, What do I know? :/

Your kung-fu style is extraordinarily unconventional Richard
D James. *steps back, pose, tailswish, feministic glare*

Yes, I bet he did a load of trance/hard house music under a
diffenent alias during his lull between windowlicker and
Drukqs ;)

I can confirm Ceri's statement about "Stairway to the
Stars". It's totally different from the rubbish typical V/vm
glitchcore. It's reprocessed ballroom music from the 30's
and 40's. I also agree with Ceri (again thanx for that
CD!!!! :D) about the two best tracks emptiness and friends
past re-united. Only that track Home should've been left out
:(

I might rip some MP3's from that CD and upload/share them
for the curious among you. Spooky, dark, cold and scary but
beautiful music!

I havent heard much V/VM... I was turn off by the Help
Aphex Twin stuff that was put out.

And reading that site Ceri posted, I see they came to
Melbourne in Oct 2002.... Now time to wonder what I have
missed!

I saw them before xmas. When they play live they always do
their V/vm djing/covers. I've never heard of them doing a
tour under their caretaker alias.

Melbourne gig

Ceri - any V/VM recommendations I should take a look at?

Don't bother with V/vm unless you're looking for something
to annoy the neighbours with or you want a laugh- none of
their stuff is going to get classic status. Go for a
stairway to the stars by their caretaker alias.
