of a road trip in may! not sure how long it would take to
drive there from michigan, but it surely would be an amazing
journey!!!

it takes TEN years of AK residence to become a tru alaskan!
that's what they call "sourdoughs".

i've actually only lived in the Last Frontier for bout 2 & a
half years, but i might stay here for the next couple years
or so.

i'm a military brat, & i've never lived at any one place for
more than four years
=/

i just saw a documentary about alaska (denali included) and
it is really a beautiful place-i prefer alaskan coast to
denali tho
but alaska along with baikal, sibiria and northern norway
must be the most beautiful place on earth
only thing that would bother me in alaska are bears, im just
not comfortable walking in woods knowing bears are around-i
experienced this before hehe

wear some bear bells and always wander in a group when
you're out in the alaskan wilderness

=)

yea make loud noises so you don't SURPRISE a bear.

i've been pretty close to mama black bear with
cubs........TOO close......they just appeared over a
hill......(this is where i live)!!

scary/sad true story from this summer.

a black bear got into my cousins horse pen and scared one of
his horses (his name was OAK) the horse was so scared it
bucked it's way outta the corral and ran to the nearby road
and was hit by a car (this happened in the middle of the
night) the lady who hit OAK was serioulsy injured and a
police officer had to put OAK down on the side of the road
*weeps*

anyway they set up a trap to catch the bear......which they
did a few days later. MINUS the whole left side of his teeth
which OAK had kicked out trying to escape.

the BEAR was huge......and the forest guy told us that there
have been 29 bears CAPTURED in the area......i live a MILE
away.......scared me to bits.....i told my kitty kots to BE
WARE! =/

Wow! That's not good. Bears in their habitat are dangerous
enough, but FORAGING bears are downright ruthless in their
quest for food...

:(

i live in the mountains.....(dats how i lost two cats a few
years ago)

and yea.......da BEARS are coming down......you shoulda seen
they captured another bear a few weeks later they saw
wandering around my cousins (they have chickens and such)

anyway......it's just scary for BOTH parties the bears and
people.....i just don't want any more horses killed......i
miss OAK......he was beautiful!!!
