Hey the Dark Tower books are the best thing King ever did and he's finally finishing the series. I feel it's very good literature. If you like King's books and haven't read these you should.

The best stuff Kind did was Salem's lot, followed by The Shining and then The Stand in third place. Some of the short stories in Night Shift are good. Not much else of his does anything for me. I used to read everything he wrote hoping he'd regain his former glories but he never did.
Don't you find he's a bit by-the-numbers? I wish he'd stop writing for ten years and go open a hotel in Thailand or something, then come back to writing with some new ideas. He pumps out books obsessive-compulsively. He never sits on anything long enough to let the pressure build.

Most of what you say is correct (apart from, imo, the shining being a good book) - he does have verbal diarrheoa and some of the plots of his more recent works have been crap basically (Desperation? If a book was ever aptly named =oD). I can read any old shit and enjoy it though

I liked The Shining! It had some very vivid writing. The thing in the bathtub? The hedge animals? The thing in the cement pipe? That book gave me daylight chills so bad I was afraid to turn my head. Which was unfortunate because then I had to keep reading. :-)
I have a really, really low tolerance for bad novels these days... bad movies too. I came this " close to walking out of Minority Report.

So Far He's kept with the basic feelings the original Dark Tower books had. A lot of his new books have indeed been lacking some quality, but I think the new DT books will be be as good as the first 4 if not better. Perhaps not. Bag of Bones was a damn good book though, and it's relatively new.

I love this series, the wizard in the glass seemed like a big recap, explaining how roland became the man he is now..... I would have hated it if he left the series ending on that. I was so happy to hear this info I think a couple month's ago on his site. This series is one of my favorite series of books. Whats cool is, this is the first project he ever worked on, the idea has been their since he first started writing. And all of his other novels branched off of this idea, he said in an interview that in some way or another you could link all his books to the dark tower series. I think its so neat that this is the first idea/novel series he worked on, and probubly the last one as well. I cant wait until they come out. Its going to be awesome, he said that he is going to try to end the series and make it his best work, kind of like a thank you to the loyal fans.
