have you heard "winter in the belly of a snake"???

i find it wicked lp- the first one by snares i really like-
the production of his early stuff is poor imho ("songs about
my cats" is tom jenkinson with shitty software)- but this
one is extremely impressive shit ("suffocate"!!!)

now i can say that i am mr funk fan ;o)

"in quod" is so dark and cold- the title of the album fits
to the tracks atmosphere well :)

yep he is the future- i realised that after listening to
"winter in the belly of a snake" and "2370894" lp's. He is a
brilliant and surprising musicmaker- and he've bought a
better equipment ;o)

dude what the hell, songs about my cats is awesome.

get doll doll doll, man. it'll change how you think. that
album is great, if not only for 3 tracks: dollmaker,
befriend a childkiller, and all the children are dead.

Its a whicked album for sure =)
The vocal parts sucks tho except for that evil voice in
"Freujager" , it reminds me of Anthony Rother , is it a
coincidense ?
I mean the title seems german and all , maybe he was
inspired by Rother ?

venetian snares is the music of the past with the precise
and sophisticated production equipment of today. not to
burst anyone's bubble (hey, i think vsnares is fantastic, as
well) but extreme hardcore music like his (w/ the exception
of winter.. which is supposedly pretty different; my copy's
yet to ship) has been made since the early 90s. i mean, just
ask alec empire and countless others.

for that matter.

I'm going to go on a snares buying spree and pick up his
catalog. I bought Winter and love it. Just listening to MP3s
of Higgins at the moment. It's got a happier jazzier feel,
almost progressive rock/jazz fusion like. There's a passage
in Banana Seat Girl that reminds me of Emerson Lake and
Palmer. Then it gets all woody-jazzy. Kewl! Think I'll get
it next.

I love this release. Probubly not as much as I love Higgins
Glue Funk.... songs about my cats, or making orange things,
but it was really cool.

Venetian Snares is the music of today, made with the time
and effort few people of the past cared to spend. I think
its safe to say that he throws a whole heap of his own style
into this hardcore/drum/drill and bass, and there were
trackers, sequencers, modular units, effects processing
boxes/pedals, and digital audio around in the 90's, the
technology was maybe not as accesible, cheap or available as
it is now, but it was definatly around in some way or
another, be it hardware or software.

I like think of it like this, amongst the umpteen thousand
people out there making complex hard drum/drill and bass.
Not a one of them has come close to anything as complex or
complete as RDJ album or Come to Daddy (both made in the
90's), except for maybe squarepusher or µ-zig.

Just my thoughts though

M. MOUSE!

I think artists like Snares and Squarepusher are bumping up
against the limits of the human nervous system. I mean, is
it possible to take in information any faster than a disk
like "go plastic" or "higgins" can dish it out?

his next album is going to be composed completely of samples
of him and his girlfriend fucking.

i dont find richard d james's music the most complex one-
although his drill sound form the "drukqs" lp is amazing, mr
funk is not too far behind him. i consider thatb the newest
snares stuff kills jenkinsons "do you know squarepusher"

It's high time i buy that whole back catolog. I think
Venetian Snares excites me more than any other artist at the
moment. It doesn't hurt that every six months he comes out
with a new albumn.
so much to say so little time...
i wouldn't really put snares next to atr or any dh.. that
music was much less complex and had a much bigger punk
influence and 0 of the warp records influence that vsnares.

songs about my cats: much like confield this albumn took me
6 months to even understand it.. i've been listening to it
compulsivly now for a month.... probably the hardest albumn
to get into but the most rewarding..

winter in the belly of snake takes it all to a new leval
though.... the cover also wins best of the last couple
years...
