when you have made a track, maybe a whole album, and you have it on the internet, how do you promote it ?? |

I think there are special sites that music producers visit regular but dont know what they are called . you upload your tracks to that site. does anybody know of that type of site? |

Send out demo's, word of mouth, playing live gigs, getting to know people...... thats the way its usually done because there are so many people with tracks online that people running labels dont "have the time" or dont want to bother spending a week to look through all of it. But what ever you dont, dont spam your tracks on the µ forum, they will tear you a new one, if you know what I mean, they will flame you like there is not tommorow... just a little word of warning. As for sharing your tracks on a message board.... hmm, I think it would be allright if your a member and just dont sign up to post a link to your tracks and then never sign on agian.... I think that if you post some interesting posts and have been around regularly that its fine to post some tracks or whathave you. But to just sign up to a message board, to post links to your tracks, and say nothing else or not contribute in discussion or anything, is kinda wank. But Mike at µ heard the shitmix by bitmeddler, because someone passed it on to him, and he released it and signed teh guy. So I think if your music is good or someone likes it and wants to release it, then it will speak for its self and things will happen. But who knows, with so many people making music now adays its hard to say whats the best way to get your stuff heard.... I hope this helps you out somewhat. |

mu messageboard = Planet-Mu (Mike Paradinis/M-ziq's label) messaboard. I agree re: members posting here. I only post links to track I genuinely think people here will like and I won't check out other people's unless they are an existing member (rather than just signing in once to spam). |
