Who here are fans of Reload/Global Comms. Man Reload rock
big time. I've got 'a collection of short stories' on that
form they could have conquered the world. What happened eh?

one of them is tom middleton who worked on a track with
richard in the early days - he's now an incredibly ovrrated
producer who did a version of princes i would die for you .
the other more talnted one mark prichard i'm not sure ...
they were good but not that good cos they ripped off old
tracks almost wholesale .

astrid-gil-botn

What do you mean by nicked?

Granted Pritchard is obviously the better of the two. I keep
hearing Tom Middleton's name mentioned on Radio 1 and within
sort of cheesy commercial circles. I have to assume he's
doing pretty cheesy rubbish now. Thats a shame. I certainly
heard some recent Pritchard stuff on some sort of Nu Jazz
label can't say I was overly impressed.

by nicked imean they have taken the ideas of songs from
other artsits - like lasslines and structures and
recognisable musical motifs etc etc -
ie noddy holder on the masy the funk be with you sinlge has
the same basslie and feeling as zapps more bounce to the oun
ce and their track on goodlooking records sounds exactly the
same as horizons by ltj bukem - other tracks sound like
rare carl craig records - i think they hoped no one wound
notice

Mmm interesting. I mean of course I don't want their myth
shattered but come on be fair I think Global Comms output is
pretty unique. I personally haven't heard anyone sound like
Global Comms they've got a very powerful and unique sound.
Have you heard Reload's 'a collection of short stories'
seriously they're sound is excellent and its stands up very
well compared to the likes of Aphex, Mu-Zig and others? I
mean no offence but ltj buken is hardly musical. Interesting
points all the same.

horizons is a drum and bass lite classic - they did one that
had all tsimular stabs and chords sounds the same and even
bits of speech in the same breakdowns etc - anyway thats
your opinion about bukem - i don't like his musci but i'd
nver say he was hardly muscal - i don't think reload is
unique - fairly weak but era typical ambient techno maybe -
the best thing was a black dog renix of one of their singles
that goes for silly money now -
the jedi knights album ws better and some of the stuff on
their universal label ..
tom middleton is awful now tho

astrid-gil-botn,

No way you couldn't have heard 'a collection of short
stories' that is no way bog standard ambient, no friggen'
way man. Hell I wouldn't even regard it as ambient music at
all. It rocks very much on its own, its got some very
agressive tracks on there. Reload were definitely not bog
standard, I'd rate their stuff up there with The Black Dog,
Aphex, Mu-Zig etc etc.

On the subject of Tom Middleton thats a real shame he's
doing junk music now, a real shame.
