the middle of the trilogy, atleast in major film trilogies, is usually the darkest and best.
empire strikes back, aliens, road warrior, and now two towers.

I was talking to Bremzen about this when we saw the Fellowship... it would've been pretty great to give these films an electronic music score - not aphex twin-like ofcourse (duh..), no synths either, but organic sounding..

It was a huge let down after the masterpiece that Fellowship was. They changed the whole story so they could add an hour of love which never really occurred in the book. Any true fan will be dissapointed..

xanatos, I cant disagree more with you... I am real fan (at least that I thought) and I understand that one thing is a book an another is a film.
the love story does exist in the book (third book epilogue) but they had to put it now so that the film can follow its own structure...

thats very true, nacmat. books are structurally completely different to films.
I mean, I don't like the lovestory either, because it feels kind of injected and is kind of clicheed.

I have mixed feelings after coming back from the movie. Feeling awed and mind-blown from the on screen experience that is LOTR, but feeling empty because now I know I/we have to wait for another year to see the next part!
OMG A WHOLE YEAR! Well, "roll on" the extended DVD version please?

Fantastic movie!!! =)
Gollum is without a doubt the greatest CGI Animation i have ever seen.
He looks incredibly real and Andy Serkins did a wonderful job with his voice and movements.
Agree with xanatos on the love story tho , it feelt a bit squeced in , a bit to much , they could have toned it down a bit and made it more subtle like in the books.

Is it FREAKING long though? I'd like the first better if they took away all the parts that didn't involve evil monsters/ action... even if the resulting piece lacked a flowing linear storyline.

Wow great picture!
He looks so real and the schizophrenic dialoge he has with himself (gollum vs Smeagol) is so great!!
One thing tho , isn't gollums eyes described as green in the books ?

It is 3 hours long, but I for example could not feel that time is passing while watching this movie. At the end, I was looking around thinking "jesus, is this really ended?" I could stay there for another 3 hours :)

It did have a lot more then the first one....more story line.I loved how they all had their own stories. The Trees were amazing, made it feel like middle earth( I think I already said this)
But yes this movie was amazing.....wasnt so much like the book, some lines where given to other people and they jumped into new characters...it still was an incredible movie....
BEATS!!! star wars!

It beats the new starwars episodes by miles !!!! George Lucas could never create anything like this , maybe the young lucas could but he isn't around anymore is he...
But the old ones have a special place in my heart , childhood memories and stuff.
I wonder what next great big movie triology will be ?
I think the colest thing in Two Towers is Gollum! I can't belive how incredibly well made he is , im overwelmed!
They MUST get an Oscar for that one! I also got gose bums when sarumans huge Uruk Hai army stod outside the walls of helms deep and begun to chant and bang their feet into the ground.
That explosion in the wall was massive! Gandalfs fall with the Ballrog was really cool to. And saurons Orchs are really cool , they come in all shapes and sizes , the one chasing Merry And Pippin into Fangorn looks really freaky!!
Well the whole movie was awesome!
The storyline was a bit unstable tho i think , some scenes felt unimportant.
The whole Aragon/Arwen thing is a sleeping pill.
