had this release floating around on mp3 for about 2 months,. but could never really get into it,.. bought the cd today, and now that I've had a good listen,. I'd have to say that it's a big step up from post,
but does vespertine take this much of a leap ahead from homeogenic?

no,.. I always feel her music coming off somehow sterile, but then again I like autechre for that reason.

oh... yeah, i`ve got some autechre but haven*t really got into it yet. I spose its jus coming from two different angles, butyeah, she always goes on about nature etc, and i get that from her music a bit aswell.... well, i`m maybe a bit too much of a fan and get influenced by her bla bla... i dunno
but yeah, vespertine is different to homogenic, like it was to post... etc.... bjork is greatetc

yeah Vespertine is just a huge a departure (wont call it a leap)..and is quite beautiful and fragile as opposed to the big and bold and I dare say dramatic (operatic) songs on Homogenic...
I like em both equally:)

My loving, caring, adorable girlfriend got me Homogenic recently--about two weeks ago. It's been in my stereo almost constantly since. Great record with loads of killer tracks! My favorite by Bjork, but Vespertine is fantastic, also :D

if you put all the albums together and play the songs on random they all make sense and flow together very well from debut to vespertine
try it!

A few on Debut bug me a bit. :| I don't think they're bad, just sub-par for other Bjork. She's got a lot of ability.

the closest thing bjork has done to a filler is "you've been flirting again", and if that's a filler,. I'm glad it's there

it's a pretty-sounding segue track, if not a full song. i wouldn't call it filler but i see what you're getting at.

..
agreed, tits BTW....filler is like an alien concept to her...

i'll let you in on a secret... for a while i made friends with someone who worked with bjork before, and he or she was going to hook me up with some studio outtakes from a past album (including a song called "building a building" and one called "hands" which might actually be "it's in our hands" and the person just didn't realize that finally got released). anyway, i'm not saying i would've shared them w/ anyone, cos i wouldn't (tho it doesn't matter now, seeing as how i didn't get them), but it just goes to show that she spends a lot of time working on albums and actually records songs that would probably be perfect on an album but chooses to exclude them. so the idea that she'd put any "filler" on an album is pretty off the mark.

sometimes good artists put crappy songs into the albums simply because they think it flows better with the dodgy tracks in,.. tool put "mantra" in because they didn't think that "the patient" flowed well into "schism",.. now you try and tell me that's not a filler

vespertine is like a perfect complement to homogenic. feels very different. homogenic is like outward, vespertine inward (maybe). i like vespertine better, but they're two masterpieces in my mind.
i've never heard bjork do filler. i seriously love every solo song she's ever done.

it's such a shame though.. that they didn't put the videoclip version of 'all is full of love' on the album..
that one is so much better IMO
and the clip.. whoohooo it's one of my all time favourites..

i was really amazed when i first heard 'hunter', it's so beautiful and emotional... i just stopped what i was doing, everything was white and cold and so beautiful around me... 'joga' may be one of my favorite songs over, it's magnificent as well...
'bachelorette' is excellent, too (but somehow when i try to remember the melody isobel comes to my mind, not bachelorette... strange) (there is a girl i know in my university who has the lyrics written on her writing [insert right word here] _ i wonder if the lyrics are a poetic way to describe some sexual act...)
and i love 'pluto' too. i would have liked it to be the last song on the album.
i love panicked tracks in general anyway.
the other songs are good too, but do not come close to these.

i like the version of AIFOL they picked to end homogenic.. it's like the calm after the storm. bjork also consideres it the first song of vespertine.
btw, bachelorette completes a trilogy of songs beginning with human behavior and also including isobel. the lyrics, music, and video all tell the story of one girl.

that's interesting you think of isobel, for the reason titsworth already explained.
silly me, frosti is not harp. it's been a couple months since i listened to the album, but seeing as how she started off the concert i went to with frosti on the music box, i should've known.
