Interpol- Turn on the Bright Lights was probably my fave of
the year.

Kind of disapointing for me, IDM-wise... sub-par releases
from Autechre and SP, NOTHING from RDJ... and I'm not liking
Amon Tobin's newest as much as Supermodified and the rest.

Geogaddi for electronic music. Turn on the Bright
Lights
for rock. Though I admit I have heard only a
tiny, tiny fraction of what's been released this year. I'm
mostly stuck in the 80's as far as music goes.

i wasn't happy with anything that came out. twoism rerelease
if you want to get technical, and i guess the sigur ros
album wasn't that bad.

flaming lips, yoshimi battles the pink robots. inovative
stuff.
they have always been a highly under rated band. partially
because of their ability to laugh at themselves makes people
take their creativity less serious but there is slight
genious going on in these boys if not more than slight.

I haven't bought many records this year, can't think of
anything really amazing.

Maybe N*E*R*D (but that was probably 2001?)

Maybe

Plaid - P-Brane
Max Tundra - mastered by guy at the exchange
Proem - no carrier

I'd like to add that only a few IDM artists are discussed on
this message board - that is the mighty Warp artists, the
incredible Rephlex experimentalists and the amazing
Planet-mu guruz. Not a faintest word about most of the
production (tigerbeat, schematic, mego...).

thank you, i'm glad someone here is with me in the idea that
there is no "bad year for music", just people not trying
hard enough to listen to what's coming out. (that's what i
was getting at when i posted the link to my dj playlists.)
