"Amazon.com has signed with Bertelsmann to take over operations for CDNow.com, effectively making what was, until yesterday, the Internet's most popular music store, little more than a link to Amazon.com in appearance."
-pitchfork
No more mp3 sound samples and extensive track listings from CDNow.

I said it once and I'll say it again. The only thing Amazon has successfully sent to me is spam mail.
I use Warpmart, DHR, HMV and a few others sometimes. HMV is as big as I go.

CDNow was way overpriced. I haven't ordered anything from them for years. Amazon has plenty of sound samples - maybe just not as many or in such a variety of formats as CDNow.
I haven't had any problems ordering from the USA branch - with the exception of imports. I usually don't order imports from them - they often can't get 'em when they say they can.
Good riddance CDNow!

cdnow was pretty poor. amazon has always had an impressive selection. i opt for smaller business and local shops, but amazon is a nice dotcom to fall back on.

i don't shop at amazon (bn.com and bestbuy.com are the only big corporations i'll give my cd $ to cos they're the best), but lemme put it this way:
cdnow - $2.50 to ship one cd; most expensive prices i've seen on the net
amazon - free to ship one cd; one of the better prices compared to other conglomerates

I noticed that too, for a minute I was convinced that I had somehow ended up on Amazon's music pages.
I dont like this new system - change is bad!!
